Appearance: Gear is a deep blue little unicorn filly who is, while a bit on the tall side, a fairly unremarkable filly in appearance and with her only remarkable looks being her slightly higher than average height and mid-long length horn she can often be overlooked due to her reserved nature. Her coat is short and pristine due to a spell that she uses to keep any metal shards or sparks away from it while working with her mother, (Wellll not quite working, more like tinkering with spare parts and asking numerous questions. :P) while her mane and tail are a bit on the short side for a filly and their only haphazardly taken care of at best as Gear doesn't much care how they look as long as they aren't long enough to get caught in anything. Though opposed to her unremarkable appearance Gear's eyes are a bright steel color and have an arcane symbol for a pupil, making them the only thing out of place in her appearance.

Cutie Mark: Gear's cutie mark is a gear to represent her skill with machines and invention, with her arcane symbol in the middle to represent her talent for mixing machinery with magic. It manifests in her magic by amping up her telekinesis by a significant amount as well as allowing her to bend, twist, shape, and generally manipulate metallic materials, and though she may not have had her magic for very long yet her constant practice with it has given her fairly good control over it. (For her age at least.) She's also inherited her families unusually large magical pool and has a fair bit more magical ability than a mare of her age should.

Personality: Gear is a very quiet filly who, while naturally inquisitive and curious about the world around her, often carries herself in a reserved manner that's kind of uncanny for a foal her age. Over her early years she learned to be very quiet around her home and isn't very fond of making much noise as a result. She isn't fond of speaking up either and will often use as few quietly spoken words as possible, backing them up with gestures and her telekinesis to get her point across. So Gear isn't exactly the most sociable of fillies, nor is she the most outgoing.

Older Brother: Shadow Hunter (Deceased?)<br />Age: Died at 18?<br />Race: Earth Pony<br />Occupation: 'Guardspony' (Also dabbled in genetics.)<br />Cutie Mark: Shadow's cutie mark is an eye with an arcane shaped (Just like the center of his sisters gear.) pupil covered in shadows so much that the eye is hard to see. It represents his dual abilities that allow him to hide from nearly everyone, (Its like the reverse of his fathers ability, similar to a "look away" spell.) and by the same token makes him very perceptive making it hard to hide from him or deceive him. The fact that his skill allows him to hide from and ignore his father and is a reverse of his prized ability caused his father to dislike him.<br /><br /><br />2. Father: Eye Catcher (Deceased)<br />Age: Died at 44<br />Race: Earth Pony<br />Occupation: 'Politician'<br />Cutie Mark: Catcher's cutie mark is an eye locked in a cage to represent his ability to make ponies look at him. Its kinda like a "look at me" spell but it manifests from his families magical potential. Unfortunately for his kids they where immune to the effect and its also a massive point of pride for him... Put those two factors together and you have the perfect mix for an bad parent.<br /><br />In Gear's case a set of things caused her father to ignore her; The main reason is that he was rarely home anyway, often off taking care of business for the noble family that employed him. Another reason was her brothers ability made him a better target for her fathers distaste. The fact that his son used his ability to hide was a huge 'insult' to Catcher, and this alone made Shadow the target of his ire. (Nevermind the fact that Shadow purposely attracted his fathers attention away from his sister.) So Catcher never paid much attention to Gear.<br /><br /><br />3. Mother: Steel Cutter (Deceased)<br />Age: Died at 42<br />Race: Unicorn<br />Occupation: Experimental Engineer<br />Cutie Mark: Steel's cutie mark looks like a piece of steel being split apart and represents her ability to work with metal, though what it fails to represent is her nigh obsession with engineering and penchant for clockwork constructions. While Steel was a decent mother she lacked the attention span to truly take care of her foals alone so while the resourceful Shadow managed to take care of himself Gear's main caretaker was actually her older brother. <br /><br />But once Gear grew up and started to show interest in her mothers work Steel took a more active roll in her life, teaching her how to use her magic and showing her how to build quite a few things before finally letting Gear try and build her own project... Sadly something happened a few days before Gear and her mother started to build on Gear's idea.<br /><br /><br /><br />Backstory:<br />
