Vorrin Lacrev
By Vae Victis
Age: 28
Gender: Male
Species: Earth Pony
Appearance: A dark, violet pony with violet eyes and a black mane. He can often be found wearing his tanned, black leather armor with metal accents for extra protection. He has a vertical scar going down the left side of his snout to his mouth. He is almost always seen carrying his chained sickle on his left flank, a dagger on his right, and 5 throwing knives on a bandoleer across his chest. It can be observed that his chained sickle seems to exert a shadowy aura of darkness. Armor protects forehooves, backhooves, chest, and shoulders. His leather armor is covered by black cloth and he wears a hooded cowl with a face covering when on a mission.
Cutie Mark: A shadow of a gargoyle protecting a white orb.
Personality: A very cautious pony, taking no risks and always carries a concealed blade if not in gear. He is a meticulous planner when it comes to a mission. He has a soft spot for metal music. He loves the dark, but at the same time, loves watching the sunrise and the sunset. As he is usually deployed on covert missions alone, he enjoys any company among friends that he can get. He runs assassination for the order of the divine retribution, but will not kill anyone who he conceives as righteous. Thankfully, assassinations are few and far in between for the order, and only the utmost of scoundrels are targeted.
Backstory: Vorrin is a member of the divine retribution order and the bequeathed of the gargoyle ruler hyldran
___________________________________

Vorrin was raised mostly by his mother, neria. His father, korzak, had been a spelunker, bringing back rare items from unmapped caves in order to support the family. However when he was repelling down a cave wall, the rope he had been using snapped, and he plummeted down a dark crevice. Rescuers went looking for him, eventually finding him badly mangled and injured, clutching what seemed to be a chained sickle, made of a mysterious black metal and eminating a shadowy aura. He was hospitalized, but refused to let go of the sickle. It was revealed that the fall had severed his spinal cord, paralyzing him and putting korzak in a wheelchair. Vorrin liked to play games, especially hide and seek. He would often play in his house with his mom and dad. They almost never found him, as he was good at hiding, especially in the shadows.

Vorrin was still a blank flank at the age of 16. He was often teased for it by his friends, but it was all in good fun. Still, he could not help but wonder what his purpose in life was to be. In all honesty, he had wanted to be a psychiatrist, helping ponies with their woes and figuring out how the mind worked. He had read a few books upon it, being intrigued mostly by the emotion of fear, due to the fact of how it made ponies act, along with how everyone's trigger of fear was different.

Vorrin's father ran a business of selling the antiques that he had acquired from his adventuring days. Even though he was in a wheelchair, he has amassed enough valuables to make sure that the family was well off in this life and the next. As their home/shop was in an alleyway in canterlot, it was most attractive to thieves.

One night, vorrin woke up to his father and mother begging for their lives to be spared. The thief had neglected to learn that they had a son. The thief had them blindfolded, his father dragged out of his wheelchair and his mother beaten bloody. This enraged vorrin, but also made him feel true fear. Fear of losing what was precious to him. He remembered that his father had given him the sickle as a 'cool antique that a metalhead would love'. Vorrin reached under his bed and grabbed the sickle. He then snuck up behind the thief, who had proceeded to start beating korzak violently. Vorrin lifted the sickle, and buried it deep into the thief's back. As the thief fell to his knees, vorrin wrapped the chain of the sickle around his neck, and strangled the thief. His parents heard the commotion, and screamed in terror as they knew not what was happening. When the carnage was over, vorrin untied them. They were thankful that he had saved them, and yet, somewhat horrified by how he had done so. Vorrin explained that he feared losing them so much, that it was either them, or the thief. They understood somewhat. The local guards bursted in after all of it, and did damage control. Vorrin was apprehended, but later released as it was deemed as self defense.

A few nights later, vorrin had a dream. A shadowy gargoyle appeared to him. It gave him a test. Sneak into the guard quarters and get back the weapon they confiscated, the sickle, and be rewarded with something great. He woke up around 11:30 that night. He smiled somewhat. It looks like he'd get to play hide and seek with the guards. He managed to sneak into the quarters and retrieve the weapon, staying in the shadows. When he made it back home and into his room, he went back to sleep, with the chained sickle in hoof.

He had a dream. The shadowy gargoyle spoke to him once more. " you have passed both trials, young one... You were willing to protect those you held dear, and you also proved that you are one with the shadows. My name is hyldran. I am an ancient entity known as a gargoyle ruler. I hold sway over darkness itself. As you have proven yourself, you are permitted to become my shadestalker, a title that earns you power of darkness itself. You've lived, having to bend your will to the shadows. Now, let them bend to you."

Vorrin accepted. And was granted the power of the dark and his cutie mark, a shadowy gargoyle protecting an orb of light, it's beloved. The gargoyle ruler, hyldran, then spoke one more thing to vorrin before disappearing. " friend.... By accepting your path, you will meet others like you who have the power of primordials, like myself, but they will not meet you for sometime. You will know them when you see them. There is chaos brewing west of equestria. Azarik, the griffon empire, suffers a tyrant. Train and become strong with what I have gifted you with, and help quell the unjust usurping."

The next day, vorrin told his mother and father he was joining the military, specifically, the shadowhoofs, regarded as the most covert unit in equestria. They tried to stop him, but he would have none of it.

He signed up for the stealth training, but refused to use hyldran's power to ease his way through training. After 8 years of grueling training, he was a definitive assassin, highly trained in the use of his favored weapon, daggers, and throwing knives. Having completed his training without relying on hyldran's power, he ensured that if he ever lost his weapon, he could still be one with the shadows.

Weeks after completing the training, he was sent to Azarik, the griffon empire. There, he fought for 2 years, assassinating usurper force commanders, intercepting messengers, and sabotage. He continued this until the assault on Feyrien, the last bastion of defense for the rebel forces. There, he witnessed from the shadows a Minotaur with the strength of an ursa, a unicorn who summoned ice like a windigo, a pegasus that easily could speed faster than a centaur, and a griffon that wielded flame as of he embodied a Phoenix. He did not take direct part in this battle, but did help the assault with a few calculated and choice assassinations of commanders, weakening morale on the usurping side and sending them into a tizzy. He left without ever letting that group know he was there. When word reached of victory, he headed home, and moved into a house next to his parents' antique shop.

2 years later, he happened by the newly built griffon embassy in canterlot. Curious, he snuck into the embassy at night, only to meet a griffon with a blade drawn. It was kazas, the same griffon who had wielded flame at Feyrien. Vorrin explained who he was and what he did for the coalition forces during the assualt. Kazas listened intently, and vorrin even told him about hildryn. When kazas heard that, it was determined that vorrin was a primordial keeper like him and the others, and asked him to join the divine retribution order.vorrin accepted, and found friendship in the order, vowing to slay anyone who would try to harm his friends along with taking the sacred vow.
