Backstory: White was born into a lower class family, in the lower ends of Canterlot. As an only child his got as much attention as his parents could spare. Despite his lower living conditions, he would not have traded his upbringing for the world if it meant replacing his parents. Growing up, White was taught the the correct ways to act; manners, etiquette, decent behaviour and respect. Teaching he will hold strong and close to his heart through his entire life.

During his younger life White had an obsession with magic. Being able to do something that is beyond the realm of possibility with just a need to focus your mind through some sort of catalyst, which was a horn in this worlds case, fascinated him. Since he could not directly use any magic himself, took up some questionable methods in which he could access some forms of magic. Enchanting. A lost art that imbues physical materials with the powers of magic. While it was not casting, it was something close and that made him happy.

For years he studied and practised his art of Enchanting, making several strides to recovering this lost art. At the age of 20, he spotted a pattern and developed a small theory, that if anything can be imbued with magic, and magic requires a catalyst to be utilised in the method you want it to, it was entirely possible that all races could hold some forms of magic, but just have it manifest in different ways. For flying beings it would be their ability to move and walk on clouds, Earth Ponies it would be their natural strength and Unicorns could freely manipulate it at will. So if he could focus enough on manipulating his natural magic into one place through meditation, he could very well cause himself the ability to cast. It took him three years of training and practice, but he finally found out a way to manipulate his natural magic at will, using his front Talons as catalysts. He had found out a way to cast magic, without needing to be a unicorn.

5 years on and White lives a mostly normal life as a freelance enchanter, travelling from place to place on the look out for those who would like his services, keeping his techniques of casting hidden to himself. This would be dangerous if the wrong people understood the secrets.
