Backstory:

(written a long time ago, may update and make shorter) Growing up, Witty always had a slight memory problem, which earned her the nickname Lost Thought. She would often forget things that she was told: rules, names, and worst of all her studies; and that's all everyone in her family seemed to care about. She came from a line of the most ingenious minds in Equestria, to her at least, and she would never live up to their name. No matter how much of her life she pushed aside to study, she would always end up failing in school and embarrassing her family. Luckily, her brother was always there to cheer her up and urge her to continue trying. He would always help her study when she asked and even give hug her when she felt down. Even to this day, these simple actions still mean the world to Witty.

When she was 9 (still about a young mare) her brother began working in a lab. She never knew if his new job was connected to, but over time, Witty’s brother grew distant and cold. It was nearly a year before she had given up and accepted that her brother would never be the same.

Another year had passed when Witty saw something she thought would never happen again. It had been another stressful day at school. Witty was preparing to trot upstairs for another lecture about her grades and the letter that her teacher had sent. That was when she saw it. Her brother was standing by the staircase, and reading something with an odd grin. He stared up at her, as she entered, and saw how hurt she looked. The grin on his face vanished and he offered to give her a hug.

Immediately, Witty dropped her bags and started to run towards her brother. When she was only a foot away, Witty leaped from the ground and into her brother's arms... At least she tried. When she was in the air for that brief moment, she saw something very odd unfolding. She could have sworn it was her brother moving aside… then her vision turned into the flat surface of a wall rapidly approaching her. She felt a lot of pain at that moment, and then… Well, she’s not sure exactly what happened next. She remembers a lot of figures, possibly her brother as one of them, and a really bright light.

She woke up a few days later on a hospital bed. She felt a strange pain in her head, but everything seemed to become so much clearer to her. She wanted to draw something, write something, solve something… Wait, something happened to her eyes?

Ever since that day, Witty started to keep a small journal that she would draw in and write about her day. It quickly became one of her favorite hobbies and a creative outlet. One day, while drawing, Witty looked at a picture of glasses she drew. She turned it around and looked at it from all angles, but no matter what she did, it seemed off or incomplete. She started to add to drawing to make it seem more complete, and when that didn’t work, she tried again. Eventually, the drawing was transformed into something else entirely…

The very next day, she bought some supplies and started to work on a way to create what she saw. With some hard work and creative thinking, Witty had managed to make her very first invention. It was a pair of glasses... with a light crudely attached to it. It seemed unimpressive, however; to her, the glasses seemed special. This is where her love for inventing began.
