A poem I wrote

The following poem was originally written for my school magazine as a bit of a 'coming out' about the fandom.  The first time it was heard by anyone, I was the one reading it aloud.  It was possibly the most terrifying experience of my life.  But hey, it's done now!   :)

I really want for you to see,
And understand quite perfectly,
That when you people look at me,
You do not see a Brony.

I need for you to understand,
Before this mess gets out of hand,
And it is time I take a stand,
And say I'm not a Brony.

For Bronyism isn't right,
As I'm reminded every night,
I see online a spiteful fight:
A fight against the Bronies.

They say that bronies must be gay,
"They're freaks and morons," they all say.
"The shows for girls and there's no way
A boy can be a brony."

Why should I risk their scorn and hate?
They'd win were I to take the bait;
Perhaps this torture is my fate
Once they know I'm a Brony.

But hold a moment! Wasn't pink
A manly color -- now I think?
To just give up would really stink.
Who cares if I'm a Brony?

There is no reason I can give
to let them dictate how I live,
So it is time for me to shrive
And tell you I'm a Brony.

I watch the show 'most every day.
If you don't like it, go away!
I don't know why you'd want to stay
If you do not like Bronies.

I do not care just what is said.
I will not let it hurt my head.
I do not wish that I were dead,
Because I am a Brony.

It will not keep me up at night,
It will not make me join this fight,
And I assume that it's all right
If you know I'm a Brony.

Okay, I added that last part.  :P

Beautiful, powerful poem standing up for what you feel is right and not changing who you are. Strong deep words. :)

You could rival the real Fluttershy with your kindness, I dare say.

I love how your thoughts progressed from hating that you liked ponies to learning to except that that's who you are. And I also like that you had the courage to write this and perform this in front of your peers.

You have gained my respect! I wish I had your courage!

Thanks; I was inspired by Let It Go.  Man, I love that song.
