Emerald Shine was at the Gala.

To anypony there, it wouldn't be unsual. the Gala was a refined social event for all ponies to attend. If you were able to go, you held class, importance, or even status. This event was for the top of the top of Canterlot.

Emerald Shine did not want to go to the Gala.

Emerald was green, had a blue and white mane, and she had on an exquisite red dress. She looked stunning, almost as beautiful as Celestia herself. She knew how she looked and had makeup on to prove it. Still, this was at the suggestion of her friends.

Emerald shine hated going to the Gala.

She was now in the gardens, knowing that she should be socializing, having fun ,things of that nature. however, she coudln't. She'd met her first love at the Gala. The one who ruined her life forever.

She sat by a tree, whimpering and sighing, picking at the petals of a leaf as she waited for the night to end.

Echo was performing an illusion show at the gala as entertainment for the high-class ponies there. He was dressed in a simple suit and blindfold that he always wore to perform. After his show, he deciding to get some air beciase it was not going for him as he befriend the Canterlot elite. He walked out to the garden and began illusions once more, this time for his own enjoyment. He had just bloomed his orchid to release an illusionary pheonix when he heard a sigh and looked to find its source which was a pony who needed cheering up. Echo walked over and smiled asking, "what are you doing out here all alone? The party's inside".

Emerald heard a nosie. A noise taht belonged to a stallion. Turning, she looked him up and down and she sighed, "I'm not here for the party. I'm here because I have to be to keep up an image. As long as I can say I went, I'm here. There's no party for me here." She sighed and she looked at the flower, "It's so lovely...I wish I could just be a flower." Her cutie mark, three roses in a wrap, shone on her flank.

He removed his blindfold after realizing he had been wearing it and had no idea who he was talking to. He was left speechless by her beuty when he saw her. But in attempt to keep it hidden, he created an illusion of a songbird that began singing its song. From the bird came a cherryblossom illusion. However, this time he cast another spell and it became a true flower.

Emerald Shien gasped wehn the glory of the flower was made aware to her. She took it in her hooves and she smelled it, her eyes going wide. She looked at him and the moonlight glistened on her coat. she looked beautiful. Completely and utterly beautiful.

"Well,i'm real glad to see somepony likes my flowers", Echo says smitling. "Why would you wanna be a flower? If you were a flower then somepony would eat you, silly". He creates an illusion of ten hummingbirds that fly over to Emerald in a vibrant dance as he stood to the side trying to hide thle fact that he was admiring her.

Emerald gasped and she lifted her hooves. her eyes light up and she started to turn around, watching them. Giggling and looking at the beautiful display, she light up her own magic and smoothed her dress. While she knew this was going to bad ends, she still enjoyed this. She giggled, "thank you."

"Hey..I know you don't wanna be a part of tha party, but I gotta go back and perform. And, I can't do that and talk to ya if your'e out here silly. So come on get in here", Echo said creating illusionary neon arrows pointing to the door that led to the main hall and trotted in.

Emerald started to imagine how this could turn out. On one hoof, this could very well end up in a heart break, which would literally destroy her. On the other hoof, he was charming, and he'd appealed to her love for flowers. Going on a whim she had no idea why she was following, she followed his arrow and sat in the front row, ignoring the other ponies out there. She looked beautiful in the light.

Before he began performing, he donned his trademark blindfold and began levitating about a foot in the air to increase the sensory effect of the performance. He started his show as he always did...two tulips blooming to release a pair of melodic songbirds.

Blinking, she let out her breath and watched that, her hooves gripping her dress. Turning her head to follow the birds, she blinked and smiled, then began to spin along with the strange sights. Her eyes opened and she watched him in awe. She looked completely bewildered, but in a good way.

He brings his front hooves together and the birds follow collided in a small burst of fire works. From the explosion rises a spinning sunflower that slowly grows legs, a tail and a face....a lion with a sunflower for a mane. The lion sits in his haunches and roars releasig a real wind that blows back the manes of the ponies in the audiance.

Emerald watched every moment of it with sheer delight. When her mane was blown back, she gasped and blinked at him, then began clapping a bit. She continued to watch him, smilling at his display. As she started to become bored, more spectacles drew her eye. She gasped, mesmerized.

The lion fades leaving a large egg in its place he brings his down for effect. On its right appears Princess Celestia, and on its left..is her sister Princess Luna. As the egg begins to hatch, the sisters begin to raise the sun and moon, respectively. When they reach thier highest point, they begin to eclipse each other, cloaking the room in bothsun and shadow at once.

Emerald watched even harder as the lighting constantly shifted. Upon her face was a mix of sheer interpretation and intrepidation. She started to gasp and breath heavily, following the motions with awe. Her worries of the gala had, for the moment, evaporated as she was lost in his spectacle.

As Echo prepares his finale a vast field of orchidsappears surrounding the egg. As the egg breaks apart, a full grown dragon lumbers out from within. It quickly ingites the beutiful field leaving only a sibgle orchid that had to bloom. The flower bloomed despite the flames and out flew a magnificent pheonix. It flapped it's wings once erasing the stage of all illusions, including itsrlf at which point Echo removed his blindfold, ending the show.

Emerald was the first to begin the applause, clapping wildly while using her magic to wipe her face of swear 8th hee dress. She clopped her hooves harder, and she waited for him to go around the curtain. When he was there, she knocked on the door to the backstage area to congratulate him.

Echo was slightly lightheaded from the combanation of the mare he had met in the garden and how taxing it was to create illusions that an audiance would believe. When he heard tthe knock, he walked over to the door and opened it, a comb in hoof as he was fixing hos mane and came face to face with Emerald, the mare from the gardens. "Hiya, i'm surprised you actually stayed through my boring show", he said luaghing.

Emerald gasped when she saw his face. She looked around and she smiled, her beauty starting to shine again, "that was...that was incredible! I've never, in my entire life seen anything like it! I loved every second of it, that wasn't boring at all! You're much better than my rusty tricks!"

"Nah..i'm sure your'e loads better than me, silly. Alls I can do is illusions an duplications..nothing really that usefull outside performing..hehe..oh well. He used his magic to cover the room in array of beutiful flowers that with a second spell solidified into reality sobthey had a floor made of flowers.

Emerald gasped and ran over, smelling them and holding what she could of the magic tendrils in her hooves. She giggled and she took one, putting it into her ear to stick out. Flowers were some of her favorite things, which actually leant itself to a hint of irony due to the reason .

Echo smiled at the fact that she liked his flowers, unlike most high class ponies who considered his magic mere parlor tricks. "As you can see...flowers are somethimg are something I love. Mainly, cause they will never be too busy to spend time with you".

"I actually don't live here in Canterlot." She blushed, and she was going to say something, "I live in P-" She stopped, her face going red, "Uh...nevermind. B-but really, really I really love those flowers! I really hope you do well! I'll never forget this magic show, good stallion!"

I mean sure, at first, I assumed you must have becausr ya lnow, elegant dress, really pretty, I mean you really looked like you belonged at the gala and in Canterlot in general. And so far, I guess I am doing pretty well for myself, I mean Im performing at the gala by royal request, sp yeah".

Emerald Shine was moer than relieved that he didn't see fit to ask her where she lived. She couldn't get involved with him. Not only was he handsome, but he had a control over magic. And something about him was really getting to her. She ignored her feelings at the moment and she smiled, "Well I really do hope you continue along with your career."
