Cave of jewels is the bottom of Crystal Mountain?

There was a cave of Jewels (occupied by the Jewel Wizard, where he forced ponies eventually known as Twinkle-eyed ponies)(http://heckyeahponyscans.tumblr.com/post/27216636085) shown in the G1 comics, with jewels of all sorts growing out of the rocks, and in G4's IDW comic, friends Forever #3 (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aw0ac1z0QWk), there's a Crystal Mountain that's mentioned by a pony called Starry Eyed, with jewels growing out of the mountain's peak, and Celestia and Spike adventure through its caves to get to the top, to get special lenses made out of the jewels (and at some point, Spike holds them up to his eyes, like glasses, which makes me think that that might've been a g1 twinkle-eyed ponies reference)

Sooooo....same location? (if it is, do you think that this makes G1 world and their locations canon to G4's?) What do you think about the Twinkle-eye pony reference?
