Why do american christians celebrate their resting day on the day of sabbath

I don't get it. Its just confusing.

To celebrate in a pagan day like Sunday. Sounds kinda more sensical due to that Jesus was not much of a Sabbath person, pork and crabs for everyone!. Aslong as one celebrates on the 7th day then its all the same. The keypoint is to difference from the Jewish one. Since the Law of Moses doesn't abide to christians.

Maybe its due to a thing called "Judeo-Christianity" in USA. Here atleast its a more christernized ten commandments like "Keep the resting day holy" and not "Keep the sabbath holy" (And ignores the "Grave image commandment too" which is automatically afirmed with "Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain". The rest is as usual in the english ones with these exepction, to work with Christianity and not be literally Jewish.

Due to that the Sabbath doesn't apply to christians. Since the old covenant is void due to new covenant that is Jesus.

Just sounds so much simplified than mixing Judaism with Christianity :)

I think this would go all the way back to when the bible was written if I am not mistaken. I think it's just a tradition passed down from generation to generation. I'm not really a religious person but more spiritual than anything.

From where did you get this really? I believe Jesus mentioned it himself that he wasn't here to undo what was done before him. No the old covenant in not void. Not completely at least.

I too believe Sabbath resting day was Jewish/Judaic or whatever.

It might be that the resting day was originally Saturday. I don't remember quite well but i think sometime throughout history it changed. I am sure of it.

I ment in terms of not following the law of moses(since that is void to the new covenant through christ), the ten commandments is regarded in the new testament. But that doesnt mean christians practice animal sacrifice(Don't know if they still do it) or to celebrate sabbath like the way jews does. "Sabbath" actually mean "Day of rest". Its just jewish tradition which is on Saturday. The resting day can be any seventh day aslong as it is on the number 7. And there's a more christian reason to celebrate on Sunday due to Christian belief that Jesus resurrected on that day. So its both a resting day and a Jesus day.

So i don't know how Sabbath corresponds to Saturday in a Christian understanding. Its not christian, its jewish :o

As i said the old covenant isn't void it's just been improved and stuff. Anyways.

I think it stopped sometime in the old testament too.

There are many derivatives and schisms among how god is worshiped in Christians and jews. Too many to be frank. It might just be one of those mixes of religious elements like the Amish or whatever.

My point is "Saturday" is jewish resting day. While for Christians it is sunday. Why should christians celebrate their day of rest in jewish tradition when Jesus was an anti law of moses person. He sucked at following it. Like stoning an adulteress for example, according to the law of moses.

Well the ten commandments count. The Law of Moses doesn't. You can find it anywhere on the net. It says so in the new testament.

And that is due that "Jesus is king of the jews". Hence old covenant with god is void in following the ancient jewish rules, which is now following jesus. Hence to Jesus is greater than moses

Hebrews 3:3

Jesus has been found worthy of greater honor than Moses, just as the builder of a house has greater honor than the house itself.
