For everything that exists, there will always be someone who hates it. There are many reasons that range from the ignorant and biased (because guys are not supposed to like a show for little girls, all bronies are cloppers/gay/mentally disabled, etc) to the slightly more educated (the show is overrated, ponies are everywhere, etc). They all have their reasons. Most of them have no respect, so they get none in return. I don't listen to them, and I don't mind them.

Actually, no, because I managed to be very much in the closet about it and I only bring it up when I need to. I respect those who are not fans of the show by keeping references to MLP to a minimum outside of brony communities or the presence of other bronies.

 

The worst that ever happened to me is just one jackass on YouTube questioning my sexuality. I promptly ignored it, downvoted the comment, and moved on with my life.

 

To me, there's a difference between a non-brony and an anti-brony. A non-brony is just someone who doesn't like the show, but respects the show and the fanbase. An anti-brony is someone who attacks the show and its fans. I'd like to make that distinction clear. Most people I know IRL are non-bronies, but not anti-bronies.

Sorry, but I'm a closet brony. I have never been to any conventions or meetups. However, there was a time where I was in a room with about 3 other bronies. Make that an impromptu meetup.
