Adventure and Slife of Life genres

I've been having people hate my stories on Fimfiction.net because of the adventure/slice of life tag. Now while i see this as no real problem, people seem to think they are conflicting tags. But the show seems to incorporate that into itself as we see when Nightmare Moon returns after a 1000 year banishment. Thi leads our heroes on an adventure to find the elements and help stop NM for good. And another you'll see them having to stop several villains over the span of time, which hints at adventure.

Now as for the SoL, we see them going about their lives and solving and overcoming their flaws and learning life lessons in the process. These two genres balance out in the show, but seem to work effectively together; if done in the right way.

So why do you think people are so against it? I could pull it off without much trouble, but is my stories still get the hate.

I don't really see why anyone would get upset and attack a story over (possibly) conflicting genre tags.

As to how these tags apply to a story, I suppose it depends upon the setting of the story. Is it mostly everyday life spattered with the odd adventure? Or is it an adventurous journey with the a couple of life lessons thrown in? Mind you though, quite a lot of the stories I see tend to have a near perfect balance of SoL and Adventure. I really do suppose it depends on the prevailing theme that sticks out just a little bit more and the author's view of their work.

I don't tend to run into this problem though, most of my story ideas have a clear majority when it comes to choosing SoL or Adventure. Mind you, I think there's some sort of guide somewhere that tries to help differentiate between the two genres. You could always stick something in the description I suppose, or label the individual chapters based on their content.

To answer you're question, its an even balance i'm aiming for, since this kind of story requires it to make sure everything is understood. For instance a new untapped power for the elements is discovered by Star Shine herself, but has to use it against Dark Mist, there will be SoL moments during their travels. So the search for the remaining 4 ponies who can use the elements begins after Dark Mist attacks Canterlot.

Along the way, each new member they gain must go through their trials and learn a life lesson in turn. This gets harder for Star Shine down the road as she seems to be holding something back from the others, not willing to tell them anything.
