Should we be so spoiler adverse

I watched KP's review on a fanfic

 

[potential experement: see the above video including spoiler then read the fic and say if you were negatively impacted by the spoiler]

 

And because of her spoiler I read the fanfic, it's short and bittersweet, go read it http://www.fimfiction.net/story/99216/1/forever-young/forever-young .

 

So I got to thinking, do we avoid spoilers too much?  When is a spoiler good to ignore and when isn't it.

 

The spoiler didn't negatively effect my reading of the story, and until I heard it I had no interest in the story whatsoever.  [it sounded whiny {Which at a few minor points it might have been, but it's amateur fiction what do we expect}]

 

 

 

I think in SoLs spoilers should be less frightening than an M Night Shamalan type story [Rosebud is his sled].
