Where Does the Color of Unicorn/Alicorn Magic Come From?

Alright, a little discussion. All Unicorns and Alicrons have magic, and their aura is different. But where does the color of the magic come from?
 

Let's see. Flim and Flame have apple cutie marks, and green eyes. But, their magic is green. So, it seems they get their magic from their eyes.

 

But, let's look at Celestia, purple eyes, yellow cutie mark, yellow magic. And Cadance? Purple eyes, blue cutie mark, blue magic.

 

So, what is it? eyes? Cutie mark? Perhaps just a 50/50 percent chance? Or am I just over-thinking this whole thing, and the designers just give the color that just looks best.

 

Any thoughts?

I don't think it's related to any of them, it's an "independent" color just like the color of the eyes or the mane.

I think it's cutie mark related because as you can see, there is green in the Flim Flam brother's cutie marks.

I think it is just a colour tht fits their personality the best. Add that to the poll maybe?
