Nikki Flameheart 35 May 1, 2015 Share May 1, 2015 This thread is more for Australians, as we are apparently more affected by it, but people from other countries can participate as well. But, as some may know, 10 years ago, a group of people from Australia went into Bali with intent to manufacture and traffic drugs. They were caught and locked up, and had spent ten years behind bars. Now in Bali, the penalty for that offence is death, but after they had spent ten years behind bars already and were apparently repentant and became model inmates, was it still right to execute them?In my opinion, I am kind of mixed on this. I do not support capitol punishment, but i do support consequences of actions. Was 10 years behind bars enough punishment for their crime/s? I do not know, I do however believe that death is over the top for a punishment. Yes, the drugs they manufacture and push do cause death, but it is in the 'users' hands whether they overdose or not, and not the seller. But that is just my opinion, what is yours? Oh and please keep this civil. "Every new day, is worse, than the night before was. Guest May 1, 2015 Share May 1, 2015 I don't believe in capital punishment, aka the death penalty, so I think it's unacceptable.
Romanova 57 May 1, 2015 Share May 1, 2015 Situations like this are precisely the reason I am against capitol punishment. Situations can change. New evidence, extenuating circumstance, in this case actual repentance. You can't unkill a prisoner, but you can revisit a sentence and revise punishment for development of individual cases as well as social changes.
