BPCannon 193 October 25, 2015 Share October 25, 2015 (edited) AKA Princess Celestia I have a theory regarding her, and the fact that she may be secretly endowed with more badassery than we've been lead to believe, but I'll ramble a bit before I get to it. Yaaay for long winded rambling!! No?... whatever My viewing of the show has been rather fragmented, I saw the end season 3 first, then S4, then a random scattering of episodes from 1,2 and 3, and then the first half of S5 During the mid season break in 5, we started the process of watching all previous episodes from the beginning in order, and in doing so I realised where a lot of people are coming from when they say Celestia hasn't been handled well as a character. I didn't really pay much attention to her at all when I first started watching, but in context she should be like Dumbledore only 20% cooler and more OP, but she isn't.. yet In the early seasons she had a persona resembling a subsitute teacher who fits their lesson plan around what the students want to do, and doesn't know how to be assertive (and apparently didn't even know what a Parasprite was O.o). Then we have the season 2 finale. The whole losing to Chrysalis thing just doesn't fit the character. Even with the benefits of the power of love blah blah blah things and stuff. Celestia should not lose to anyone one on one, ever. The only postives really have been her enjoyment of the chaotic Gala - makes sense for one who's been around so long and attended countless formulaic Galas, and in a similar vein, that she seems to get some amusement from Discord's antics. So here's the theory, perhaps as a good ruler and mentor, Celestia is always thinking of the bigger picture, and when we factor in how important the elements of harmony are supposed to be to equestria, and how fragile Twilight's psyche is when it comes to failing or disappointing her mentor. There's probably a good reason for her to be intentionally soft and mellow when dealing with a student who she likely recognised as the element of magic from a young age Re the Wedding scenario, again bigger picture. Number one priority has to be what's best for equestria, and although she undoubtedly cares about Twi, her friends, and the wedding that was taking place (which was already pretty screwed up) a chance to test the mane 6 and make sure they're capable, strong and worthy enough of being in control of the elements, would have taken priority over doing it all for them. They face challenges all the time, but to quote Pinkie - this one was a doozy, and maybe not the best time for Celestia to act as a win button. So to give Chryssi a bit of over confidence and the mane 6 a huge test they really need to pass, its not that big a risk if you can always get up and fix everything yourself should it not work out. Anyways, not sure if any of that is anywhere near what the writers were thinking, but here's to hoping. Could really do with all 4 of the Alicorns kicking some antagonist butt at some time in the future, I think they all need to smack something Edited October 25, 2015 by BPCannon YT - https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCZAGTLlKwB2HiluSSOKpuYw
Swifty 249 October 26, 2015 Share October 26, 2015 Nice headcanon, but im afraid the writers screwed her forever. So much activity here, by the way. You should have started a thread about Spike lol
