Equestria Origins, Dragonfire Chronicles, MLP: Generations

Mlp gen 4 has been going 5 years strong. And there's still unfathomable amounts of potential and possibilities with the characters and world, once Friendship is Magic inevitably ends. (Nothing lasts forever. All good things come to their end)

 

One such drop of potential is an "intermission" series, slipped in between gen 4 and gen 5, to hold off pony fans until the next gen comes along.

 

X-men did an "Origins" story, and there was hype. Pokemon did an "Origins", and again, hype. Now, bear with me, guys, what if, since the pony franchise is over 20 years old, Hasbro decided to do their own "Origins" story, involving the ponies? "Equestria Origins" has a rather nice ring to it.

 

Instead of focusing on a specific gen of ponies, If this ever happens, I could see it based around characters of Gen 1 (that Hasbro has liscense to ) and Luna and Sunbutt, during the earlier parts of their reign. The comics show that the royal sisters did have interaction with some of the G1 ponies. Origins could even hit on explaining the full MLP timeline (which many YT analysts have tried to order

https://youtu.be/DmvUA_5SNRo)showing that Sunbutt and Luna knew of Megan from G1, when they had been fillies, how somepony could've severed the link between pony and human world, once Megan grew up, Megan keeping the rainbow of Light in the human world, which could've been responsible for the link between worlds not being severed completely, and many millenia later, the rainbow's magic syncing /allowing Starwswirl to create a portal to the human world to banish the Sirens there, and the two worlds- as seen in EqG 3, trying to merge as one.

 

Another series, perhaps one featuring Spike, could happen in between Generations. It should focus on Spike being the knight that he dreams of being, in ML:FiM. (A dragon knight going off on adventure and protecting a kingdom seems like an original idea, especially since dragons are usually the bad guys) He could age a bit, no longer being around ponykind who supress his physical growth. Also, have a noble steed, as any knight should- maybe with a play on words name of one of FiM’s mane 6, even. The spinoff could be “Dragonfire Chronicles”, or “Dragon knight of Crystaia”, or something.

 

And I was thinking, when gen 5 comes along, it could be what many fans seem to have an idea in their heads for- a literal next genefation , involving the offspring of gen 4's mane 6, off on their own SoL or adventure. Could easily take a cue from the Sonic franchise, and just go with "Mlp Generations". Even Dragon Ball z (and Naruto, from what I hear) had its series continue with the main cast having kids.

 

Perhaps the CMC and Spike would be adults, during gen 5, acting as mentors to the Mane 6's foals, who are a bit younger than their parents were, at the start of the previous gen. Or the new cast is offspring of the royal alicorns of gen 4- Skyla, and offspring from Sunbutt, Luna, and Twilight. (Or accompanied by Starswirl the Bearded's son, from a distant future, after the great wizard knew friendship, and whose son travelled back to gen 5's past, to mentor a society who no longer knew friendship, as in gen 4)

 

What do you guys think is in store for pony, in the future of gen 4, and onto other gens?
