Children/Family cartoons is now it's own genre

I just realized this. The fact that adults and teens watch these cartoons meant for children and enjoying them is a testament to this. The real reason there were children's cartoons to begin with is due to concerned Christian parents of their children watching violence and sex on TV to give them a different outlet away from such adult shows and of course the main reason companies complied to this is so they can advertise toys on their shows to get children want to get those toys. Of course since they were advertisements the cartoons of the past are terrible and written very poorly and are boring to adults.

 

But now with all these new cartoons with a creative design in mind like Gravity Falls, Steven Universe and My Little Pony, it's evident that cartoons aren't for toys and are more enjoyable for adults. Children/family cartoons now embodies cartoons that can create a good story without the need to show sex, violence and adult themes, that in itself is a genre of it's own. There maybe people that want to escape from such adult themes, maybe people like a more lighthearted show for once.
