While Riley had been dealing with her own personal business, Redwood had been busy with building up the Gator Teeth. So far they had been able to clear out three raider hideouts, and she had led the strike teams for all of them. They had been able to scavenge supplies from these strikes, and even got some new recruits.

 

Gadget had been hard at work too. When he wasn't working on fixing things in the vault, he was configuring the mind wipe for Riley, and so far, he was just about done.

So far they had been able to clear out three raider hideouts, and she had led the strike teams for all of them. after the funeral and the bodies had been incinerated Riley made her way through the corridors which had been reinforced slightly to allow for the extra weight of the robots being used by the Gator Teeth and Riley. Riley snuck out of the Vault and over to where her secret project, a reparing few trucks was hidden

After a few more hours of tinkering, Gadget had the mind wipe ready for Riley. Now all she needed to do was find her.

Riley was just about done fixing up one of the smaller trucks when she heard a twig snapping, she span around as quickly as possible... nothing just a stray dog wandering around... Riley climbed into the truck and praying turned the key. the engine started and the lights shone into the distance like beacons,"YES, YES IT WORKS IT FUCKING WORKS!" Riley yelled happilly

After asking around a bit, Gadget figured out that Riley was doing something outside the Vault. Following this lead, he left in the direction that she had gone in and to his surprise, came across a working truck. "That's so fucking cool..." he said to himself, in awe of its majesty.

"Huh!?" Riley looked down at Gadget. "WAH! how long have you been there?" she said as she fell back onto the passenger seat. Riley climbed down from the cab and stood next to the truck, she had a small makeshift yard going on back here including a crane which looked like it was used to lift heavy parts

"Oh my god, you did this!?" said Gadget, bursting with excitement. "How did you even get this thing running? Finding working parts for a fusion engine like this alone is incredible, let alone being able to actually get it running. Wow, this has got to be one of the most amazing things I've ever seen. Of course, it's not nearly as amazing as you."

"Oh my god, you did this!?" said Gadget, bursting with excitement. "How did you even get this thing running? Finding working parts for a fusion engine like this alone is incredible, let alone being able to actually get it running. Wow, this has got to be one of the most amazing things I've ever seen. Of course, it's not nearly as amazing as you."

Riley blushed, "Well... it took a lot of caps... but when I get the other two fixed heck the Gator teeth will be ready to fight anything we need to at a moment's notice! plus they aren't my only project... I'm working on a small sedan at the moment... for us two" Riley looked in the back of the largest truck. "it's still in pieces though..."

"Wow..." repeated Gadget, slightly speechless. "Can we drive it up to the Vault and maybe show that you aren't so much of a liability? I bet when they see you did this, they'll be a little more accepting of you, or at least think you're useful. By the way, I got that mind wipe ready."

"Wow..." repeated Gadget, slightly speechless. "Can we drive it up to the Vault and maybe show that you aren't so much of a liability? I bet when they see you did this, they'll be a little more accepting of you, or at least think you're useful. By the way, I got that mind wipe ready."

"The Vault? umm... I don't know... I haven't managed to get her going and I've never driven a truck before... i guess we could try..." Riley climbed into the drivers side and checked the reactor's coolant levels. they were okay for now, Riley put the truck into gear pushed on the accelerator and drove forward a few feet before stopping "c'mon in!" she said patting the seat next to her

This had certainly been an eventful week for Gadget. First he had joined the Gator Teeth, then he had gotten with Riley, and now he was getting the chance to ride in a prewar vehicle.

Riley stepped down from the cab and opened her makeshift security gate before getting back in and driving out onto the road, the ride wasn't exactly comfortable but it was to be expected after the roads hadn't been maintained for 210 years, whilst they were driving the same stray dog ran into the road and stopped, Riley hit the brakes but a loud crunching made it obvious the dog was dead

Normally, he wouldn't have thought twice about some stray mongrel, but Riley may have had a problem with accidentally killing it, considering the incident with the floor caving in. It seemed best to just keep driving.

"Y-yes lets..." Riley said quickly driving off leaving the dog lying in the road

 

Riley rounded the corner and reversed back into the Vault knocking over several large wooden boxes in the process. "Sorry! I hope there wasn't anything important in those..." she said looking back

"What's all th' commotion?" said Redwood, who was alerted to something large moving out front. She was taken aback by the sight of the truck, and never thought she would have ever seen something like this. "Well ah'll be. A vertibird would've been better, but this is still pretty damn great."

"What's all th' commotion?" said Redwood, who was alerted to something large moving out front. She was taken aback by the sight of the truck, and never thought she would have ever seen something like this. "Well ah'll be. A vertibird would've been better, but this is still pretty damn great."

Riley climbed down from the vehicle and flicked her hair back and waved to Red, she ran up to the overseers office and opened the door "Hey Red! Did you see the truck!? Part of my new automation scheme! to get back onto the roads! now we can go everywhere! and guess what? there's two more!"

"Two more? Ah'll be damned. This oughtta make anypony who still thinks that yer just a bucket of bolts see that yer a real asset to us," said Redwood, glad they now had a better edge. 

 

Gadget came rushing in after Riley and said, still huffing, "Can you maybe wait for me next time?"

 

"Gadget, y'all were out there with her?" asked Redwood. "Were y'all two...?"

"Gadget, y'all were out there with her?" asked Redwood. "Were y'all two...?"

"What?! no! I just took him for a drive..." Riley said quite shocked at what Redwood was saying "anyway...once I get the others running I'll start shipping in supplies from the other states of the old USA, that way we'll have any help we need when we need it!" Riley smiled

"Yeah, but they've been sittin' out to rust fer th' last two centuries. If one of 'em breaks down in th' middle of a drive, we're outta luck, so it's probably best if we just test 'em out a little first. We wouldn't want 'em blowin' up in our faces or nothin'," said Redwood.

"Believe me with my handiwork there is no way they'll explode... unless we run out of coolant then we're up shit creak... unless... Red! can you come with me to the truck stop? if the coolant pumps are still in good condition then we could absorb it into my work yard..."

"So wait, y'all want me to come and bring an entire coolant pump to yer workshop?" asked Redwood.

 

"I could help," added Gadget.

 

Even though she wasn't very familiar with tech or mechanics, Redwood was pretty sure that an entire coolant pump was too much for just her.
