"then every pony on the ship will be looking for Fire..." Riley said pointing out the fact there was no difference between gen 3's and regular ponies, Riley went to the Med bay to help the medical droid look after Fire without killing him, there were still a few kinks in it's programming

Redwood had to be looking over her shoulder constantly from now on. There was a target on her back, and she didn't intend on having anyone hit it.

Riley nodded as she helped to awaken Fire, in the corner of her eye she saw the assassin, he put a bullet in her back which came through her chest, and several in the medical robot before looming over Fire, not speaking, not moving, he pressed his gun to Fire's head

"Ma'am, are you alright?" he asked as he extended his hoof to help Riley up.

Putting Fire on lockdown meant stationing a member of Echo Squad near the infirmary, and as soon as he heard gunshots, he rushed in and proceeded to gun down the assassin before he could do anything to Fire.

 

"Ma'am, are you alright?" he asked as he extended his hoof to help Riley up.

Riley flickered on, then off, then on, then off, the bullet had gone through one of the cables attached to her fusion cells, the assassin vanished suddenly in a storm of electricity, the same storm grew around Riley, before she too vanished in the same storm

After he had alerted Redwood to what had happened, she ordered a full sweep of the ship and the surrounding area to find Riley and the assassin. In addition, she went down to the infirmary to find out what Fire knew.

"Ma'am! we've found Riley... you best see where she's ended up" Riley was face down in the sand her rear end the only visible part of her, "her legs are buried... and her head, and chest... everything but her well butt"

Riley was finally pulled free of the gaping jaws of the sand, she sat down and took several deep breaths lying next to Gadget thanking him, a few feet away lay the other Synth still in the sand the Echo Squad member's poking around his head, Riley must have balled up the teleport sending them both crashing into the sands, Riley looked up at the skies many clouds were rolling in, it looked like a rad storm was about to hit and yells from the recovery team confirmed it, leaving the fake Fire buried in the sand the team and Riley ran back to the ship to escape the incoming Radiation storm

"Riley, lemme get this straight: there was more than one synth assassin runnin' around, and ah shot th' one that was impersonatin' Glimmermist, but there's still one more on th' loose, right?"

"yes... the other is still buried outside in... that" Riley pointed out the window to the bright green storm that had set in, "and the Institute just tried to take us both back..." Riley said referencing the electrical storms above her moments before she was found in the sands of the beach

"Why would whoever made y'all be interested in killin' me?" thought Redwood out loud. "If ah remember what y'all told me right, they're a good few hundered miles up th' East Coast, and we wouldn't have anythin' to do with 'em. Ah can understand why they'd want y'all, but why try to kill me?"

"unless... The Militia somehow got control of an escaped synth... and then they tried to bring us back after he tried to kill Flame... The Railroad takes their synths pretty far away, and it's not rare to hear stories about these... mechanical men forming groups of raiders, or joining the more armed factions..."

"they're a faction spread around here... the doctor who told me what I really am is with them, they take synths from Boston and give them a memory wipe, then they are taken down to wherever they are bound for where they are hidden by more members until the institute gives up

Riley looked out the window and then there was a bang and she was shot three times in the head tearing her central PCB out

Redwood swore and took cover. The shot had been clearly heard and the various snipers posted on the ship were firing back. Alarms were going off, and since the ship was already on high alert, it was locked down almost immediately.

 

"Get Gadget in here, now!" ordered Redwood into her radio.

 

Gadget arrived quickly and got right to fixing Riley.

Redwood swore and took cover. The shot had been clearly heard and the various snipers posted on the ship were firing back. Alarms were going off, and since the ship was already on high alert, it was locked down almost immediately.

 

"Get Gadget in here, now!" ordered Redwood into her radio.

 

Gadget arrived quickly and got right to fixing Riley.

Riley (who was now on the floor) looked to be dead until she started to breathe, she didn't need the PCB to function the various other circuit boards did that, she groaned and opened her eyes, she couldn't remember a thing about what had happened or who she was... the Institutes's way of stopping her revealing the truth about the other synth

Gadget, having studied Riley's PCB a lot over the last few months in case of a situation like this, was able to reattach it.

 

"What the hell is going on?" he asked, staying away from the window.

 

"Sniper, that's what," answered Redwood. "If it's just one though, it's real stupid of him to attack in entire ship."
