Redwood picked herself up and asked, "What's cookin'?"

 

She was surprised that Riley had woken up before her. She was usually an early riser, but Redwood supposed that her long journey coming to an end at the Wetlands had left her tired, along with being woken up by the Brotherhood.

"Doesn't something usually follow that?" Riley said opening a pack of old breakfast cereal and putting out two radaways "nothing is cooking per say but hey it's... food? edible at the least...." Riley smiled nervously. "then again what isn't radioactive these days?"

"Ah've eaten worse," said Redwood as she took the cereal and began eating. "Y'know, if y'all pointed me towards th' nearest animal, ah could probably hunt us somethin' so we can have somethin' good to eat. If ya cook meat th' right way, it can be pretty safe to eat."

"Ah've eaten worse," said Redwood as she took the cereal and began eating. "Y'know, if y'all pointed me towards th' nearest animal, ah could probably hunt us somethin' so we can have somethin' good to eat. If ya cook meat th' right way, it can be pretty safe to eat."

Riley pointed at herself. "I'm the nearest animal if that counts for anything?" She said beginning to eat the hardened sugary cereal "We'll go hunting later... when I've found a better gun..." She said looking up "for now just eat your breakfast and then we'll go out"

Redwood resumed eating her cereal, which wasn't too bad compared to some of the other things she had eaten out on the trail. 

 

"So, where's th' nearest settlement?" she asked after she had finished off her breakfast. "If yer lookin' fer a better weapon, we might as well look fer someplace that sells 'em."

Redwood resumed eating her cereal, which wasn't too bad compared to some of the other things she had eaten out on the trail. 

 

"So, where's th' nearest settlement?" she asked after she had finished off her breakfast. "If yer lookin' fer a better weapon, we might as well look fer someplace that sells 'em."

Riley pulled out something she hadn't used in a long time, her standard issue Vault-tec Pip Buck "nearest settlement... about a day away from us on hoof closer by bus but not by much... we should set out now before it gets too late..." Riley left a sack of bottle caps in side the bus with "for those coming for my debt"

"A day's walk? It wouldn't take more than a few hours to cross Miami, and in mah experience, there's usually at least a couple settlements kickin' around th' ruins of a big city like this. If we walk fer a solid day, wouldn't we end up pretty far outside of Miami?"

"A day's walk? It wouldn't take more than a few hours to cross Miami, and in mah experience, there's usually at least a couple settlements kickin' around th' ruins of a big city like this. If we walk fer a solid day, wouldn't we end up pretty far outside of Miami?"

"no... not with the south beach the way it is and the brotherhood's constant searches... no one wants to live in the ruins of this city... besides me, the raiders and the ghouls..." Riley stepped outside. "c'mon the highway isn't that far away from us it's normally not used..."

Redwood picked up the bag of caps that Sparkle had set down and said, "Here's an idea: instead of givin' up them caps, we deal with whoever's got beef with y'all. That way, it's one less thing fer y'all to worry about, yer a few caps richer, and we make some money off of whatever we can get from their corpses."

Redwood picked up the bag of caps that Sparkle had set down and said, "Here's an idea: instead of givin' up them caps, we deal with whoever's got beef with y'all. That way, it's one less thing fer y'all to worry about, yer a few caps richer, and we make some money off of whatever we can get from their corpses."

"I don't know I've never really killed something... sentient before..." Riley kicked the ground. "It has never really appealed to me... the thought off killing another pony for my own gain..." Riley looked down at herself and loaded her revolver. "but I guess I could try?"

"They'd kill y'all fer their own gain, so we're gonna do exactly th' same to them," said Redwood as she picked her gun up. "Now listen, when bullets start flyin', get behind somethin' solid, and if ya can, stay close to me. They're gonna shoot to kill, so y'all gotta do th' same."

"They'd kill y'all fer their own gain, so we're gonna do exactly th' same to them," said Redwood as she picked her gun up. "Now listen, when bullets start flyin', get behind somethin' solid, and if ya can, stay close to me. They're gonna shoot to kill, so y'all gotta do th' same."

"O-okay..." Riley began to like the sound of this less and less as Red went on. "do you know where their base is?" she said looking back towards her "or do I have to figure that one out?" Riley began slowly walking north west in the direction of the closest settlement

"How am ah supposed to know where they are? Ah just showed up yesterday," said Redwood as she followed Riley. "Ah could probably track 'em down though. Do y'all know if these debt collectors work for anypony? If y'all bought somethin' high-end from them, sounds like they might associate with traders."

"I don't know if they work with anypony but there are a few scavengers out there who have the right parts for something like a bus... I can get stuff for free of the collectors though... provided I can pay the debt..." Riley kept walking, an old car sat by the road it's reactor had been completely removed leaving a steel shell

Redwood was a bit amazed that Riley had managed to survive for so long. She hadn't even killed anypony, and she just seemed softer than he usual wasteland fare.

"Let's pick up a couple leads then. If we ask some wastelanders, we might be able to come up with somethin'."

 

Redwood was a bit amazed that Riley had managed to survive for so long. She hadn't even killed anypony, and she just seemed softer than he usual wasteland fare.

Riley yawned as the two approached the highway. she slid down the embankment and onto the top of an old truck's trailer before stepping down onto the cab and jumping to the ground. she looked around, nopony as usual she took her time to check the back of every vehicle for a rifle of some sort

Rather than searching for anything of value, Redwood was focused on any threats that might be nearby. She was in an unfamiliar location, and she had to constantly be on her guard. If the wildlife around here was as bad as Redwood had heard, she would need to keep her ears and eyes open.

Rather than searching for anything of value, Redwood was focused on any threats that might be nearby. She was in an unfamiliar location, and she had to constantly be on her guard. If the wildlife around here was as bad as Redwood had heard, she would need to keep her ears and eyes open.

Riley pulled out an old combat rifle coated in rust it was no use to her so she tossed it behind her where it fell into another box hitting another gun a slightly better condition Lever-action rifle it was old and she had no ammo for it but maybe in one of the containers...

"Good find," said Redwood without breaking her stride. "Might be best if we keep movin' though."

"Good find," said Redwood without breaking her stride. "Might be best if we keep movin' though."

 

She could easily hear various animals scurrying around out of sight, and she didn't want to stay out in the open for any longer than she needed to. As far as Redwood was concerned, the entire Wetlands were hostile territory.

"Better find!" One of the other boxes had five bullets for the rifle "It's not much but it's something..." she slung the rifle onto her back and pulled out her .44 she could hear voices up ahead. "shh! you hear that Red?" she said looking over the central reservation

She put her hoof up to her mouth to signal for Riley to be quiet and slowly crept towards the voices.

If they were lucky, it would just be some wastelanders or maybe a trader, and hopefully not raiders.

It was a couple of slavers a female and a male they seemed... occupied with each other and it was the perfect time to rid the Wetlands of two more slavers and free a few more slaves... or they could go and join the slavers after they had finished doing their business... (inserting morals!)

Redwood didn't like the look of the slavers and wasn't going to risk them shooting first.

 

She first fired at the male slaver, then fired at the female slaver before she would have a chance to react.

 

Redwood didn't let her guard down, as there might have been more slavers close by.

Redwood didn't like the look of the slavers and wasn't going to risk them shooting first.

"There on the hill!" Riley said pointing up the embankment as a slaver shot at her with a high calibre rifle, the bullet went directly through her front right hoof knocking her revolver from it "AGH! my hoof!" she exclaimed holding it  you could see the bone from where the rifle had gone through

Redwood swore and ducked into cover, keeping her eyes on the sniper.

 

"Gotta borrow this," she said as she picked up the rifle that Riley had found.

 

Redwood propped it up on her cover, took careful aim, and fired when she had a bead on the sniper.

 

Riley was wounded badly, but she would need to deal with the raiders first.

Redwood propped it up on her cover, took careful aim, and fired when she had bead on the sniper.

 

Riley was wounded badly, but she would need to deal with the raiders first.

One of the slavers came running down the hill towards Riley dodging the bullets from the Lever-action, Riley picked up her revolver just as he arrived he pulled out his gun and *BANG!* there was a moment of silence, the slaver with a large bullet hole in his head fell back and onto the tarmac
