Need help settling for a look for my OC (+cutie mark)

First of all, this is the profile of my OC.

 

I need help with his looks and cutie mark. I'm really not sure how I want him to look and I'm honestly pretty scared using darker colors will make him too much of a Mary Sue.

 

So this is basically the version I am not too happy with right now.

 

 

The cutie mark consists of two hearts, matching his eye color as of now.

 

 

I just don't know if I wanna keep it and am looking for some help here regarding looks and color scheme. If you have any suggestions please tell me, feel free to completely revamp the visuals, I'm just really bad at the visual part. Might adjust his name accordingly too. Thanks in advance.
