"Don't worry, they do have female guards but seeing the difference is hard in these type of armor. As long as you try what I told you regarding communication towards them then you should be all good." Jack said.

He then looked a bit around the corner and saw an elevator, with around 6 guards standing in front of the entrance.

"I see an elevator over there. And they have 6 guards standing over there near the entrance. We could do it as follows."

"Ember, you walk past by them and take 2 guards out at once."

"Festus, during the confusion that Ember causes amongst the 2 kill, you and me will kill the remaining guards from range, and then we run straight to the elevator." Jack suggested.

"Sounds good to you both? It is probably the most efficient way we can take that elevator since the moment we enter it we lost our element of surprise in any case."

Ember nodded and slipped the gas mask on "Ugh." She cringed "It smells so bad... I'll put up with it." She casually walked over and hoped that none of the guards would speak with her as she tried to go past them.

Festus watched from afar he didn't want to miss the opening and Ember get hurt. He for something... anything to happen.

As Ember walked closer, the guards near the elevator did not see past her disguise, but they were stopping for the other reason.

"Hold it, what is your designation initiate?" One of the guards asked her.

 

Jack cursed under his breath as he knew this might turn bad, even he did not expect them to ask such question, he was hoping Ember could somehow find a way past this, but he did not know whether to intervene, as he did not want to blow her cover.

Ember sighed and flipped her mace into claws and ran attacking the nearest guard, this caused confusion but not enough, Ember threw the mace she still had but her throw missed and she quickly tried to pick up the soldiers weapon but the guards were aiming at her.

Festus leapt into battle with his wings and put his shield in front of her it deflected most of the bullets except for a few all of which missed Ember except one bullet didn't hit the shield and it hit Festus and dug into his shoulder. He sat quietly as he got hurt he didn't want anyone to worry about him for now.

Jack switched his rifle to semi automatic and looked through the iron sight.

He fired off about 10 rounds, one of them even managing to get straight through one of the guards heads.

When the guards were dealt with, Jack ran towards the elevator, however guards from other parts of the place had heard the gunshots and had arrived from behind him.

They started shooting at him from a long range.

"Close the elevator doors!" Jack shouted as he was sprinting towards them while some bullets almost came in contact with him, but didn't hit their marks thanks to the long range they were fired from.

Jack made a dolphin dive towards Festus and Ember into the evelator.

The doors closed after a few seconds of Festus blocking bullets after the doors were closed Festus looked at his wound. He dropped his shield seeing how much the bullet caused him to bleed.

"Looks like we're in the clear for now," Ember heard Festus' scream she looked at him "Festus! What happened? How'd you get hit there."

"My shield doesn't cover my whole body... Why does it hurt so much..." Festus was astonished it was like he had just been impaled from a long distance.

Jack look3ed at the wound.

"It is pretty deep, but it's a good thing you are a dragon, your thick hide did provide a much better protection then a normal skin would. But still... the bullet is still in there. We need to get it out of that wounds."

"It seems i will need to improvise a bit as i am by no means a medic, but i have learned how to deal with this situation, you trust me enough to help you get that bullet out of there?" Jack asked Festus.

Festus, who was crying at this point, nodded to him "Of course I do. You'd do anything for others, no matter how dangerous." He laughed "Reminds me of a pony I met but never asked her name..."

Ember sat down next to Festus and looked at Jack "Be careful." She said calmly.

"Don't worry I will." Jack said while he was cleaning the blade to his own fur.

"Alright Festus, I need to widen the wound a bit more open in order to get the bullet out, as the projectile is so small, I won't be able to get out it as it is without making the opening a bit bigger. I know it's going to hurt, but try to hold your breath, and think about good things, it will work better against the feeling of pain, perhaps even close your eyes if you are comfortable with it."

He held the knife a bit above the wound.

"I am going to 2 fast movements, the faster it's done, the less painful it will be in the end. Get ready." Jack said.

When he was done with the 2 movements he quickly removed the knife point away and then held his hand above his wound.

"Normally you would have to use the knife to wriggle the bullet out of there, which would be even more painful, but I am not going to resort to that, I instead am going to use a spell that is similar to the effect of a magnet, which will make the bullet go out of your wound fast without making any contact. Its sadly no healing spell but it's all I can do in order to avoid any more pain." he said.

When Jack cast the spell, the bullet flew straight at his hand, which he caught in the spell itself and held it between 2 fingers, he then threw the bullet away.

"Keep steady pressure on the wound. In fact..." Jack walked a bit away to one of the guards who had died in the elevator and grabbed some sort of syringe.

"This is an adrenaline shot, it is going to help you alot against the pain. You would be surprised how well these things work when used in combat." Jack said as he injected it into Festus.

"There, the adrenaline should have no side effects as it is pure adrenaline, nothing more, which means the pain should subside drastically soon, perhaps to a point where you can no longer feel it." Jack reassured him.

Festus stood up as the shot took effect, even though Jack had gotten the bullet out it didn't stop the bleeding. "Thanks. It... seems that I owe you now." He placed his hand over the wound "Sill it hurts... can I just hide rather than keep fighting... I can't risk something like this again."

Ember put her claws on his, not injured, shoulder "That's fine just stay safe ok." She said worried about him "Perhaps stay in this elevator and keep the doors closed?"

"Good idea, just try to keep an eye out ok? Try to keep the doors shut so they won't be able to get to you." Jack advised.

He then looked at Ember.

"You rather stay here with Festus so you can keep an eye on him? I could try to get that thing alone if it is necessary ." Jack asked her.

"Ember, don't sit here I'll be ok. Jack said it could have been a lot worse..." Festus said. "Jack's too reckless to go alone please... go with him." He lacked at Jack after saying that "No offence of course."

"Don't worry I'll go with him, you stay safe and be ready to open the door when we get back." Ember said smiling

"None taken, you are correct after all, I don't trust myself either after all the constant alterations that have been made to my mind." Jack said with a smile.

His expression suddenly changed a bit.

"If i don't make it out by some reason, then promise me you look out for the others alright? Something is telling me that I have a similar trait from someone else." Jack said as he gathered his weapons.

"You'll make it back, I promise," Festus said smiling. "I'll look after them if you and Ember don't come back though if it makes you less worried." He lifted his shield and acted like he was handing it to Jack. "Do you want to use this? I won't be needing it here anyways."

"Thanks for the offer, but I am not very good with shields, I am always someone who prefers to be quick on their feet and just smaller weapons in general." Jack said. 

"Let's go." Jack said to Ember as he opened the lift door.

He started walking through a narrow corridor that let some stairs, which he waited there for a few seconds to see if anything was around the corner.

Festus, when he decided to not take it nodded an 'Ok,' and set it on his lap, upright, so if he was suddenly shot in the chest the shield would block it

Ember recklessly jumped around the corner, she expected enemies to be there so she swung Festus' blade at the wall in case there were any there. She was using the young dragon's blade due to having lost her blade and she had removed her usual armor to use the guard's armor that she took from the enemy. To Festus his blade was a longsword to Ember, however, it was a short sword.

A guard suddenly got impaled by the blade. They had been with 2, the other surviving guard tried to shoot her but got shot in the head by one of Jack's bullets.

As they descended further and deeper, they eventually reached a big metal door, which was tightly locked.

"Damn, it appears to be lightly locked, and I don't know the code..." Jack said.

He knocked a bit on the wall next to it and suddenly got an idea.

"Ember, could you create a large dent in this wall? By any means necessary? If we can get a dent into this metal wall, I can blast us through it, because it appears to be a bit weaker than most walls I noticed, probably due to it being old." Jack said.

Ember nodded to Jack and put her arm on it she felt the wall for a second then she backed up and charged at it full speed, she had to do this a few times before even creating the smallest dent. She took off the guard's armor and spread her wings she jumped off of the farthest wall and flew full speed into the wall. After she punched it that last time her knuckles started bleeding slightly. "Good enough?"

Jack nodded, a bit surprised.

"That is good enough, and with your bare fist at that. That's some sheer strength." he complimented.

"Alright, now I am going to blast our way through that wall." Jack said as he started to gather alot of magic in his hands.

He was actually drawing from his reserves as well as he needed to fire a very strong one in order to punch through the now dented wall.

He fired a relatively big magical blast as it slammed straight into the wall, creating a decently big explosion.

When the smoke cleared, there was a big hole in the wall, as the sides of the hole were still burning from the heat.

"So much for that secured door." Jack mildly joked as he panted.

"Agreed," Ember laughed stretching her arm and moving her fingers a bit to be sure she could use them after confirming she could she nodded to him. "Let's go." She said as she completely ignored the flames on the edge of the hole by jumping through it.

Jack stepped a bit back and then dived straight through the hole, not wanting to get burned.

He landed with a roll, which after he stood up.

"This should be the place, and to our luck, no guards are here." Jack said as he looked around.

It was a very big room, like a storage room with lots of containers.

There was a pretty big machine in the middle of some sort of computer panel next to it.

"Ember, could you please check for any sort of other entrances or perhaps containers that contain any type of weapons? For all, we know this might turn into an ambush zone, which we must be prepared to defend ourselves. While you do that i am going to handle this transfer thing, i should be able to get through this security thing." Jack said as he walked to the computer panel.

Ember nodded and started looking around a bit there was only one other entrance than the hole which was the door the hole, after confirming that she started looking through containers quite scared of what she would find.

 

Festus meanwhile had fallen asleep on the elevator he was hiding on.

Jack started searching through the controls of the panel until he managed to break through the coding.

"Yes." He muttered with a silent victory tone.

He then looked different files, he kept looking and looking, until he found the one he was looking for.

'Could this the right one? Only one way to find out.' Jack thought.

The screen said *Prisoner 96*, which made Jack tense up a bit.

"It's him..." he muttered...

He started looking for this particular file and saw many things, some information that left him a bit in an emotional state, but he pushed on regardless.

As he was trying to make the control panel open up the container for the inhibitors, there was suddenly a password screen.

"Grrr, what could it be? Hold on... I should try *Vendetta*, that would sound like something he come up with." he muttered.

A small smile grew on Jack's face.

"This is too good to be true... But now to the next part, extract." he muttered once again as he was pressing some buttons.

The machine in the middle of the room started moving a bit as its mechanical arm was moving through various places until it grabbed a specific crate.

"I never left you, and neither did you." Jack muttered to himself as he looked down with his eyes closed.

Ember looked at the thing Jack had gotten using the machine "Well we got it... Let's get out of here. I hope that Festus is ok... how strong are those elevator doors?" She asked nervously looking back at the way they had come in through. Her wings opened as if she was about to take off, she looked impatient.

Jack muttered something to Ember but it was so silent that all could be heard was a bit of mumbling from his answer.

'Heh, she shows worry for him but when I got shot through the chest she showed not even show any concern, Celestia neither that matter. They must be like *Oh, he can take 1000 rounds to his body, that's how durable he is!*, I bet if a rocket would blow me apart and leave me to near death she wouldn't even care. Festus was the only one who actually showed concern and slaps some sense into them. So why can't they? They are giving me the impression that the only reason I am among them is that I am a benefit. It does not exactly feel comfortable that everyone here has some sort of past connection and worry for each other greatly while I am just some stranger met them a few months ago'

'As a matter fact, dying is something I don't generally seem to fear anymore, it has just become a means to an end, if I somehow meet my Father in the afterlife, he would show me love, but in Equestria, I am not even sure if Luna would even want. That would mean I am an outcast all over again.. Outcast....'

'Just why am I thinking about all of this from so sudden? A minute ago I was all in the fighting spirit and now I am just reduced to.. this...

Here I am holding the remains of someone special, and even mourning is out of the question it seems, not even allowed to recall some happy memories, nope! Because it's all just trash to everyone else, perhaps Ember will get so impatient she just ends up leaving me here, wouldn't that be ironic? It would only confirm my thoughts even more.' Jack was having an overdose of emotions in his head as he just staring at the box with an empty look on his face.

He was having some sort of paranoia.

"Sorry, i just need a moment." He said as he trembled a bit.
