"If you want to keep your emotions in check, stay away  from the fighting for a while, you join these attacks but your emotions won't get any better from those, killing things is not the best medicine for that, if you want to help it does not always involve in joining them, you can help out in any way, we could still use a healer, we don't have any magic users normally among us, you can contribute greatly to those who needed very dire healing." Karthspire advised.

As Jack climbed on, they eventually flew away, they were around 3 hours or more underway, when suddenly loud explosions and sounds of gunfire erupting from somewhere.

Betamor stood there with his squad protecting some sort of massive steel container, but they were greatly outnumbered by enemies with guns and drones were flooding their position, yet they kep't fighting regardless.

"We keep fighting until the very last man standing, we are not going to contribute this cargo to our enemies!!" He roared to his soldiers as they were holding off an army of enemies that seemed to increase in number over time.

Festus and the others didn't seem to be with them.

Woody sighed. "I think I'll rest a bit first and clear my head. Don't want to mess up anything right now. Is there... somewhere I can just relax around here?"

 

Maple did the usual thing she'd do. She rushed headstrong into combat crashing into the middle of a squad of enemies positioning her wings as a shield, that if anyone shot the bullet would ricochet right back to them.

Evelyn watched the scene closly "Ready?" She asked Jack diving in between the 2 groups of soldiers. and freezing a big wall of ice between them.

"I think it's going to take a bit more than just those 2 things, you aren't really in any shape to fight if you are going to push yourself past your limits, I would advise you to not go with this mission as you won't really be able to do much in this state, considering you rely mostly on magic, but if you are going with us, don't say I didn't warn you, safety comes first." Karthspire said.

"You might want to go see that Doctor first, you can rest there as well." He said.

Jack nodded as he started to fire magical blast from the air, he was specifically aiming for the drones, who were in the air, but not that high up, but could still prove dangerous for them.

As Betamor was fighting, he was relieved to see sudden reinforcements on their part, but he then also saw a good opportunity.

"Maple! Could you radio the other 3 for me? We got separated after a while, and for some reason, our radio signal is being blocked by something, do it fast though, despite the welcoming aid of you 3, they are only coming more and more, but we can't leave this container into their hands!" Betamor shouted.

"Alright but that will be the second time I've been there." Woody sighed and the green turned the bright silver again "Thanks, I'll leave this to you guys... Please don't fail." He then walked away from the two barely giving the hole a second thought since he was going to get it healed anyways it was pretty clean for a hit to the arm he was really lucky.

Maple was angry "Did you leave my friends behind? Like I assumed they would've come with you! Whatever..." She activated her radio. "Ember?"

"Yea?" Eber's voice came through "Oh wait I hear it. I think I see it too me and festus are coming but Windphaser will take a bit longer."

"Understood and do try to hurry." Maple said

"Really not in the mood of your accusations right now! We are in a deep situation and the last thing I need is being reminded of something I didn't do!! All we can hope to do now is fight!!!" Betamor roared to Maple as he cleaved an enemy apart in his irritation.

 

"Can you do some Firebreath strafing runs Evelyn? We need to take it up the next level if we want to fend off these many attackers." Jack said as he quickly ducked as a bullet almost hit him in the head from the mass amount of attacks that the enemies were doing, their guns razing over the place as they were firing at their attackers. But their numbers didn't seem to falter that much, Dropships where coming all over the place as they where sheer determined to take their cargo back.

"That's Why I was brushing it off!" Maple replied just as irritated as she took out a soldier in front of her. "They're coming this way now."

 

Evelyn nodded "Hey jack should we do that combo where you boost my flames with you magic? Worked well last time." She said with a wicked grin.

"Good." Betamor said, he then yelled orders to some of his soldiers who started to spread a bit out.

As the battle was going on, it did seem things were looking better, but they were in need of more fighters.

 

Jack smiled as he remembered the trick they had used before.

"Good plan, it should do incredible damage among their groups! Here it goes!" Jack said as he started draining his own magic into Evelyn.

Maple saw what was about to happen and flew up next to Evelyn to avoid the blast.

 

"Here! GOES!" She said firing the large ball of flame that crashed into the ground exploding as it did before creating a rather large crater in the terrain Evelyn laughed "I wonder what that does with ice? You alright?" Ske asked Jack

"I am alright, just a bit fatigued from all that magic drain, but I should do fine." Jack said as he readjusted himself in the saddle from the sudden recoil.

He then looked down.

"This one was even bigger than last time! Interesting to see how you can unleash such a massive blast where mine would be puny compared to that, with the same amount of magic at that." Jack said.

"Tough I wonder as well with the ice part, but I would be draining myself empty if tried to give you more magic at the moment. I just hope Ember and the others show up soon, I know for a fact that the thing inside that container is drawing our enemies to its location." Jack noted.

"I can feel some form of power emanating from that container, hence why i noticed, and i think Betamor realized what is inside that thing, or else he would not go this far to deny them a single cargo package."

 

The explosion has created a big decrease in their ranks, but they where starting to attack from behind now as well thanks to the newly arrived troops that came from the dropships.

"Enemies from the south! Re-engage formation!" Betamor shouted out as an order to his soldiers as some they started to defend the container from all 4 directions.

Maple decided to take a bit fo drastic action she flew to a dropship that hadn't dropped its troops yet and dug her claws into parts of it where there was a lot of circuitry or at least where she assumed there was a lot of it.

 

Evelyn nodded not noticing the sniper aiming at Jack.

Festus did, however. "Ember! Throw me up to them."

"Why?" She asked quickly

"Just do it!" Ember did throw him up and he held his shield between the sniper and Jack the shot then hit his shield. Sending him backward.

"Festus! Its great to see you, I really am in your debt for that one!" Jack said with a smile.

He then looked around and tried to locate the sniper who had tried to shoot him, and found him.

"Evelyn, could you take out that sniper on that roof? Your armour makes you very resistant to their attacks but i can still die from those." Jack asked her.

 

As they where fighting, one of the soldiers got shot in the arm and fell to the ground, and was about to be shot to death, but before that would happen, Betamor slashed straight at the assailant, the enemy getting brutally murdered by Betamor's rage.

"Curse this! That thing in the container is calling them with its physic link..." Betamor said as he helped the soldier up and drew his rifle again, firing at the enemies.

Festus managed to catch himself in the air landing awkwardly next to Jack "No Evelyn. I saw what you did I can take care of the sniper." He hopped off and started to fly over to the shooter, shield in front of him.

Evelyn wasn't sure what to do so she decided the do af ew fire breath attack so at least the sniper would have to hit a moving target if still aimed at Jack.

 

Maple had destroied a few of the transports the way she was attacking them earlier "What do we do about that link? We need to prevent it somehow."

Jack was laying on his belly to make sure with staying as low as possible for just in case.

And the sniper was now aiming at Festus, seeing as he was getting closer by, he was firing at him with good accuracy, but Festus was behind his shield, which made the bullets clang loudly against it, though the impacts did give a bit of force.

 

Betamor was moving a bit back to think better at Maple's question.

"Good question, We can't do anything specific to the link, only to the creature creating these links, but it's too dangerous to let it go out of that container, especially with the still fighting going on, and lifting is no use, these things are magic proof, and we can't really lift it, it's too heavy for that. We are in a tight spot with this situation, all i can currently think off is fighting our enemies until they stop coming, but that hope is not guaranteed, let alone that releasing the creature will make our efforts for nothing as we have trying to keep it sealed since the moment we found it." He said.

Festus used his sword to disarm the sniper and slashed him across the gut and smashed them in the chest with his shield. After taking care of it Festus examined the rifle and decided to try to use it he aimed down the scope and lined the cross in the scope up with an enemy and fired the rifle. He didn't lose any grip on the weapon but it did make him stumble a bit when he fired the weapon.

 

Maple looked at the container "What's in this that's this important anyway? Becuase it seems REAL important to the enemy."

"You heard about Death seekers before? If you haven't, they are creatures who act as a commanding strain, using its physic and telepathic powers to control and steer those who are part of the physic link, they are valuable because they are smaller versions of a hive mind in a sense, but you will never find them on the battlefield, only in the main towers and sometimes in Conversion centers, and while it is important to them, its this creature who is calling them all via its own will." Betamor explained.

"We have been trying to make sure we could kill the creature undisturbed, but the moment we came near the enemy was already trying to swarm us, it was why we let your friends go ahead in the first place because we didn't to risk getting hurt from this thing, because it can enter anyone's mind, those who are not mentally strong enough can be driven mad, or even mind controlled if the person has a strong exposure to the energies of the demon realm. They must have been trying to relocate this one, but it seemed to have been attacked early on and driven the enemy away until we found it." He said with a grimace as he was looking at the battle.

Maple looked confused and frankly a bit annoyed "So we're protecting it... To kill it?" She asked confused "Well tell you what me and ember can kill this... Thing while you and the army hold off the attackers. EMBER!" She shouted "Get over here."

Ember flew over behind the wall of Ice where Maple was "Yea?"

"Stay here I might need you in a second." Maple looked back to Betamore "This sound like a good plan?

"We have been more waiting for a better opportunity to kill it without all these enemies around, have you never used this method before? It's a common military tactic." Betamor said, a bit surprised how she didn't see that.

"But anyways, Yes, that does sound good, though we can't let it escape at any cost or else all this fighting was pointless." He said as he started walking to the container.

"Get ready, this is going to get messy." He said as he unlocked the door, in which only a moment later a creature which looked like to have 4 metal type of tentacles attached to itself, and 6 golden eyes and pretty big mouth with razor-sharp teeth.

The creature shot out of the tank and flew straight into the air above the battlefield, it seemed to capable of some sort of levitation as it was flying in the air without any form of wings or jet engines, only small machinery attached to its body.

Maple flew up after the creature flipping the air to kick it straight down or at least attempted to.

Ember flew up next to Maple and swung at the creature with her sword. At the same time of Maple's downward kick.

Festus shot a few different enemies with the rifle and he heard it run out of ammo. Dropping it he looked up and Saw ember and Maple about to fight something He started to watch for more snipers just in case.

The creature got hit by Maple's kick but it didn't force the creature very far because of its weight, but it was enough to move him a bit down, though it didn't have the desired effect as it caused the creature to get moved away from Ember's sword attack.

It started to use its telekinesis to grab a hold of Maple's body, because she was in a robot body, he was lifting it like any other object, and threw her straight into Ember, when the 2 got forced straight back, the creature started to send signals straight to the enemy soldiers, which caused a large group of them to enter their focus straight on Maple and Ember, driving them back with their gunfire.

Jack suddenly got in a big panic as he saw the creature suddenly free.

'Oh no... This is bad, really bad. They shouldn't have let that creature out near the enemy forces, now it's going to redirect them!' Jack thought.

Maple growled, she hated when unicorns did that to her while she was fighting them. Maple tackled the creature shrugging off any bullets that hit her since they just somewhat dented her plating. MAple then plummeted to the ground while taking the creature with her on the descent.

Ember, however, was moving a lot trying to not get shot. Becuase she was not in a metallic body.

 

Evelyn saw the battle between Maple and the creature. "Should we help them?" She asked Jack "We can't risk that thing escaping."

"Yes, if that creature escape it will cause alot of trouble, they might be low in numbers but they are incredibly strong, and it makes the enemies near it even more dangerous with its presence." Jack said.

 

The creature crashed straight into the ground when Maple on it.

When it had crashed to the ground, it started to roar as it started firing some form of a blast, while it looked similar to magic, it was an entirely different type of power.

It started to fire straight at Maple's underside, while it didn't blow Maple off, it was doing a critical amount to her underplating as such blast where enough to incinerate any normal person, it was thanks to her body that she could survive those blast, but not be impervious to them, it was not helping that those soldiers where still firing towards Ember and Maple, which was making it both difficult while trying to battle this creature at the same time.

"She is going to get really damaged if she is going to try and sustain against more of those blasts, and Ember is being forced back to cover by them. We need to get Maple out of their reach of firing range for just a moment, can you scoop her up real fast? Doesn't have to be long, so she can get behind cover for a moment, then we should fly up really high to get ourselves out of their reach so Maple and Ember can attack again without this amount of attacks being rained upon them." Jack told Evelyn

"You ready?" He asked her.

"Alright Ready," Evelyn said as she dove towards Maple and went to pick her up when her claws grabbed Maple Evelyn noticed something "She's hot... Like potentially meltable hot." She commented to Jack.

"Thanks." Maple said to Evelyn "I wasn't sure what to do there. Jack? You've got a plan?"

"I do have a plan, but it might not sound as effective as first. Melee attacks are not the most effective against this type of creature because the closer you get the faster their physic powers will reach you, i haven't encountered these creatures alot but i know that ranged attacks work better on them, but we need to overwhelm it with ranged attacks, it is capable of conjuring physical barriers around itself. We just need alot of firepower and overwhelm the creature to a point where it is incapable of fighting back." Jack said.

"Tough like Evelyn said, you are steaming with heat at the moment Maple, i think that attack caused a bit of overheating in your body, perhaps not to a point where you will stop to function, but its really something you will have to keep in mind now. Do you have any type of ranged attacks?" Jack asked her, but then he suddenly got an idea.

"Wait, we just would have to mount a machine gun to you! Sadly you cannot control it like vehicles normally would, but still to a point where you can fire it, as I am seeing down at the battlefield they still have a spare machine gun. How about that? Ember knows how to handle guns, Festus it seems now even knows how to handle a sniper rifle, much to my amazement, and I and Evelyn have ranged attacks, we can complete the bunch this way." He said.

The creature was hovering over the battlefield, and it started to fire the same type of blast before that it used against Maple, but now it was firing at Ember's position, it was not hitting her because she was behind cover, but it was trying to draw her out as it seemed to be targetting her cover specifically.

Maple liked the idea "How long will it take to mount it? And Evelyn could you cool the outer plating off I need to make sure I don't shut down."

"Sure." Evelyn nodded and exhaled a small amount of ice onto Maple it melted and evaporated almost instantly "Wow... That's not good..." She kept using Ice until it stopped instantly melting. "There We go." Evelyn set Maple and Jack down behind the wall of Ice she made earlier and she picked up the space Machine gun settting it near Maple "Get to work my friend."

"Should not take more than a minute, after all, we are not installing something into your body, I am essentially just fastening a machine gun to your body with some grips, all you have to do is aim it rotate it around with a hoof." Jack said as he gave Evelyn a thankful nod.

He started clipping the machine gun on Maple's back, noticing that she already had some sort of clipping parts on the top of her body.

'Damn the one who made this body was smart to also to including something so simple yet very efficient.' Jack thought as he was fastening the gun.

When he was done, he was reloading the machine gun and pulled the bolt back on it when the bullet chain was inserted.

"That should do it, tough I don't think you can really reload it yourself at the moment, so I think Caerson would have to implement something look that for you once we get back to Equestria, for now, this should do, just don't waste all of that ammo in a sea of bullets but try to do occasional short burst." Jack advised as he used Maple's body for a moment to use as support for climbing back in the saddle.

"Shall we?" He asked Evelyn.
