Evelyn nodded "Lets" and took off into the air. Observing the strange leader type creature from a distance

Maple Aimed the weapon getting used to it for a second She then joined the other two in the air and started shooting the creature trying to make it stop attacking Ember's location so she could move away from cover.

Jack started firing magical blast from the air, the combined attack caused the creature to raise a shield around himself and divert his attention.

"Ember, now!!" Jack said loudly as the creature turned to them.

Tough suddenly Jack felt something entering in the back of his mind, but he ignored it as he kept attacking.

The creature started firing its magical blast at Maple and the others above, though not on a specific target, rather switching occasionally between the 3.

Ember did move out of the cover but instead of moving to another one she ran at the creature behind it and kicked them in the back driving the sword straight down into the creatures back. She then flew into the air leaving the sword there.

Maple sighed "Well that was reckl-"

"Hey it worked didn't it," Ember said angrily.

"Actually Ember's method was effective because now are together, it didn't damage the create a whole lot but just follow my lead on this action ok? What Ember just did might actually kill the creature in a way, but only if we participate further into this moment." Jack said as he used most of his remaining magic left to do some sort of shockwave that he had before, but it was not meant to damage, rather, it was aimed specifically in the under the handle of the sword. Because of the shockwave, the sword was now moving further into the already created wound, making it go deeper and deeper." Jack said.

"When it is at its deepest, I need you to grab the handle of that sword and slice towards the middle of that creature with all the strength you have, it will reach his heart, and then, its dead," Jack said.

"Maple, you keep on firing to keep the creature busy, Evelyn, try to freeze it a bit with your ice breath, but be ready to move once it starts firing at us." He said as he started firing more shockwaves straight at the blade handle as it went deeper and deeper.

Ember was biding her time waiting for the right moment to go in for the kill and she was avoiding anything that was heading at her.

Maple, on the other hand, was constantly firing the weapon while moving drawing the things attention the best she could with the only ranged weapon she had.

Evelyn had dodged things too and was too busy with keeping Jack safe to focus on the ice breath.

As Jack was firing his shockwaves when Evelyn was hovering, it was getting close to the sword getting fully in, but it was then that the creature was pushing its physic powers to a further level as Jack suddenly started screaming as the creature was entering his mind, using that earlier brain malfunction to an advantage as it had not yet healed completely.

"Ember, i can't-    Do it more further, you need to act with this now!" Jack said loudly as he gripping the sides of his head, hoping she would do it without any delay's.

Ember reacted instantly and flew to the sword grabbing the handle pushing it a bit deeper then drove the sword upwards at full power.

Maple had run out of Ammo on her gun right as Ember flew in for the kill. She was really hoping it worked this time since it was the only chance they had.

Evelyn quickly descended to the ground "Are you alright Jack?! What's Wrong?!" She threw him off the saddle allowing him to roll to the ground off her wing.

The creature eventually roared out as its heart got hit, and it then fell down until it exploded completely after it had started to overheat.

Jack groaned as he rubbed the sides of his head. "That thing was trying to enter my mind, when i was shooting those shockwaves towards the sword, the creature must have gotten desperate and tried to enter mine since my mental barriers are among the weakest of us 4 after everything that has happened." He said as he panted a bit.

"I really can't deny that it actually was hurting alot, alot more then i would normally feel from such mind powers." Jack said, not knowing why it was so much more stronger then usual againts him.

The fight down on the ground was getting at its climax, tough now that they no longer had to the creature worry about, Betamor was sounding the retreat order.

"Everyone fall back! We are done here." He said as he and his troops started to fight their way out of that place, telling the others to leave now as well.

The equestrians all nodded and started to leave followed by Evelyn, Maple flew close to Betamore and felt something was wrong. "Now we need to hurry and rescue Jack's sister." She said with a smile "I know we can do it. We will have to hurry though as we said she's mar- Wait did woody get captured? If not then he might go after him soon! He'll need his Dragonequus DNA!" Maple said in realization "But... We'll need everyone to attack this center... What do we do?"

"Must be something to do with the head injury." Evelyn said trying to hide what really happened to him earlier

"Hmmm, that is really going to depend. Did he make it back to Karthspire and everyone else? If he did, then he is safe without a doubt, unless you didn't see him arrive back at the city gates when you arrived from relaying the news to them? But you could perhaps be right about them needing his DNA, from what I have heard there aren't any of his race except for his father, that makes his DNA unique as well. If this is truly at play, you will need to keep the following, Will you allow it that he is going to fight with the fact that they will be trying to obtain his DNA one way or another, and at any given time at that, or keep him in the city, where he will be safer but we will miss out his magic and his strength." Betamor asked her.

"I don't think its fair me to have such a big input in it, i am not particularly good with family-related matters as i have no family, so i can't really relate. You might have to let this question sink in for a few moments. Will you allow your brother to fight in this particular battle so we do get this extra manpower, but he will be at more risk, or do you care more for his overall safety and want to keep him between safe walls so it will become very unlikely that he will get captured, but at the cost of less manpower? Its a choice between strenght in the overall fight or the well being of your brother, you need to feel out what your heart wants. You are his sister, you are the best when it comes to knowing what is best for your own brother compared to any of us who are currently here." Betamor said to Maple.

 

"You are probably right, give a moment, i can't see very well at the moment, with this current migraine going.." Jack said as stood still and rubbed his eyes.

"I... I want him to have a say in it too." Maple explained "He's... Better at making choices like this than I am..." Maple seemed to greatly consider this she finally realized that she was reckless often she was not starting to change. "I... I don't want him to go with us. But it's up to him."

Evelyn grinned "Take a breather. You earned it. So... Jack."

"I guess you are right but don't let that prevent you from voicing your opinion about it, sometimes people make one choice but end up regretting in the end, wondering why they even made it in the first place, the ones among us who bear more emotions look for someone that can guide them through the hardest of paths, I think he looks to you for that in particular, it is a good thing to remember that should you ask him about it." Betamor said.

Jack sat down as he stared a bit at the ground.

"I am glad we managed to kill that thing, though I have to admit it is going to be nothing compared to what we will all be facing soon." Jack admitted.

'No kidding, this might become one of your more bigger achievements.' The voice suddenly said in his thoughts.

'Wait, who are you?' Jack thought back with confusion.

'Don't worry, I will tell you later, we are going to have some time and talk things trough, I will let you know when just keep focused.' The voice said back.

"He made it back safely so that's out of the picture. I know he does But I've been pretty terrible at planning ahead recently." Maple admitted, "But that's the thing if we lose him in that center somehow... and they find him alone before we do." Maple shutters visibly "I don't think he could take it... He's already going through so much." Maple sighed relaxed but also still a bit worried. While flying Maple was looking through the files they found earlier seeing if she could find out if anything happened to her mother.

 

Evelyn's thinking was interrupted by the second voice. "Jack? What is that?"

"You haven't doubted even once to voice your opinion in things, just tell him. Tell him that you really worry about him. If need be, just stop him from going, might sound a bit harsh but there are moments when words and emotions are not enough to fix the situation. Saving his life is alot more important then some arguments, even if he would get mad at you, is someone getting mad at you worse then costing it someone's life down the road? You need to remember, he is your brother, family is one of the only things that keep someone going on these times." Betamor said.

 

Jack looked up.

"I am not sure honestly, someone told me he will be having a talk with me soon or something, but i don't even know who the voice belonged to, it just came and then disappeared.." Jack said, not really sure what to make of it.

"You know you're right there... but still that's sorta the thing He'll want us to rescue our mother as soon as we can for the same reason... And that involves him getting involved in this next attack... But I feel as though they won't infect Jack's sister without it. Just call it a hunch. Given what they've been doing to her so far." Maple thought about going through those files but a bunch of them were still encrypted.

 

"Come now, Jack. We need to catch up with the others." Evelyn told him picking him up. "Whatever it is you'll be alright."

"There is a slight difference between rescuing and wanting to see that person again, does he want to take it upon herself to save Fluttershy or does he want to see her again? This might be an odd question but there are some things that are important here, wouldn't he be satisfied if you were the one to save her? Does Woody enjoy the rush of battle and the glory that follows afterwards? These are unique questions that define one's reason for battle. Where do you think his personality would be in these categories? If you know these, then it might actually solve your answer in some ways." Betamor said.

"But your suspicion regarding the DNA part might be right, but I do have to mention something here. Inserting someone's DNA does not grant any form of the originator's powers or abilities. It tends to carry over personality traits and occasionally magic, but that doesn't mean it can be used in any way unless the user's body is capable of doing it. While your brother might get captured, I doubt they are after his DNA or anyone else's in particular, all that matters to them is that they can find any other types of DNA, which explains your mother's capture in a way, she was not captured for her DNA but because they saw an opportunity and happened to find her. I don't know a whole lot about this curse thing, but I do know how the conversion process goes in work, it's like a *everything we find we will use* type of situation, for all we know they might as well capture anyone else and use their DNA instead." Betamor mentioned as he was walking.

 

"Alright, we should hurry, please don't accendently drop me." He said with a small smile.

Maple sighed "I can't answer those questions... I thought he enjoyed fighting but recently he's more along the lines he only wants to see his family back together... I can't blame him it's a noble cause but I've got a job to do." She said "With some many lives now depending on what happens I can't lose this fight. So... He can't blame me for wanting to get involved."

 

"Why would I drop you?" Evelyn said "We still need you."

"That is understandable, Some have these moments where they don't want to do something but do it anyway because someone they look up to does it, it's going with the flow, perhaps you brother has been feeling like this the entire time? Who knows, just because someone tends to join missions or fights alot doesn't mean they feel like they need to or enjoy it, its a common thing where people tend to hide things so others won't get upset, perhaps you should just ask him if he truly feels like fighting, because that could clear alot of your doubts. And even if he would blame you for yourself wanting to fight, you are a born warrior, i can see it in your personality. About him it still remains a mystery, that is all the advice i can offer, hope it cleared up some of your worries." Betamor said as he walked ahead.

 

"It was more meant as a half-joke, I don't know really, I am not very good at the joking department. Guess i should be grateful i feel like making jokes in the first place despite the situation we are in. Speaking of wich, we might want to start flying now Evelyn, they are getting pretty far ahead." Jack told her.

"I can only hope." Maple said "I'll chat with him when we return which should be soon... But if I'm the reason he feels like he has to fight that's going to make me feel like a bad pony... Because I'm basically inspiring him to risk his own life... Though... He's strong... and he doesn't have a lot of training. Mostly just practice with his magic he could be even stronger than me if he wanted to."

 

"Oh... Right." Evelyne laughed nervously as she took off. "Sorry guess I got too worried about you."

"It is alright, it shows that you do truly care. if it weren't for you and the others, I would have either died long ago or I would have been living as a lone scavenger and a forgotten martyr. Funny, i always expected myself to become those 2 last things, with everything going on i only had the choice of fight through everything until i would die, because i was aware i was not going to last long back then.  I just wonder if i have done the right thing, i just not have a particular future in mind, even once i am going to settle down from all the fighting, i just don't have a objective, or a focus." Jack said

"Really? Hmm..." Evelyn laughed "I think you'd make a good lawyer as stubborn as you are sometimes." She the quickly said" No offense of course."

 

Once everyone got back to the town Maple went to where she'd most likely find Woody, The infirmary "Woody..." She said stepping inside.

Woody was standing with a bandage around his arm. "Maple? Was everything ok?"

"Yes... But are you joining the assault to save Jack's sister?" Maple said, "I really think-"

"Yes. I am. I'm letting them win this fight. Jack is going to be just as reckless as I am when you're in danger... Maybe even more so since he thought she was dead." Woody replied interrupting Maple. "I know what you're thinking too. I don't want to fight but that's not going to stop me from coming to make sure you, and everyone else is safe. I can do that without even attacking an enemy."

"Heh, I might make for a pretty good lawyer but in Equestria, it won't really work out that well with such a job, they are alot more about the whole prospect of friendship and stuff, i was not really raised in such a society in the first place, I guess I should perhaps become a treasure hunter, or rather a artefact hunter at this rate, its one of the things I know a pretty good deal at." Jack said with a smile

He then started to frown.

"I guess i might not have shown my emotions properly for what we are going to be doing soon, but i can say without a doubt that i am dreading about the thing that we are going to witness. It comes to the conclusion that should we be able to save my sister from there, she is going to turn regardless in the end, which will come to the conclusion that we will be forced to kill her if she ends up turning completely, only then i will have to see her suffer as she is stuck in some disformed body that is clutched together from all sorts of living beings into one whole thing.." Jack said with bitterness

Evelyn frowned too. "Let's hope it doesn't come to that. Try to have some more hope Jack things like these... You need to just have a bit of hope." Evelyn then smiled. "It'll be alright. Woody has already gone through the same thing. He did save Maple though but you have to understand he was scared of it too and it turned out she was infected. War is hard but you need to look up alright?"

"I guess, but in end, it did turn alright because I had the solution of switching her soul between bodies. I wish i could compare it with Maple's infection, but this is far more severe, i have seen things that made me  question our existance back in some of the most disturbing places. everyone is acting so calm about the whole conversion process like it is nothing, i have seen some among us walking with a smile on their faces as they where about to blow up a conversion center, yet showed no form of sympathy when they incinerate all those people who are being held in those conversion centers. Luna was the only one who showed her distress when we were in the first conversion centre of Equestria, but everyone else there? Nothing, they talk so much about this friendship, but where is the friendship towards those who really need it? Some may say i am reckless, but you know what? At least i acknowledge on how i feel bad about what is happening, that is what my old group never lacked, i could relate with them because they felt the same thing i did. They say things they have experienced are so bad, but what about us? Are we so insignificant to not be mentioned? Do they think we are all having fun living like this? Are we so unimportant that they see Equestria as a master race?! That is my problem, all the constant boasting, all the stories on how everything was so great! At this point it feels like mockery having to hear that over and over again. Everyone wonders why i am so distant? There is my answer, it has been bothering me for so long.." Jack said as he was starting to get a bit emotional in his words.

"I have been carrying these feelings for so long, and now i feel like i have to voice them."

Evelyn frowned again "Geez I was only trying to help... Jack... I wasn't trying to come off like that. Didn't Maple almost go to get herself killed in order to save your sister? On top of that didn't Celestia apologize for making a bunch of bad choices. They all say things are bad but they haven't seen much worse. Forgive ignorance but never forget it. Rub it in their face when your right but let them have it when they don't know better. I'm personally doing that but they're strong. They have room to talk like that but not enough. So do cut them slack on this... That or perhaps tell an equestrian."
