MLP Civl War

Okay so this is a plotline to a fanfiction I'm writing, but something happens that causes a rift between Twilight, and Applejack which leads to what you could say is a Civil War. The cause of the rift is The CMCs are blammed for causing damages in Ponyville. Twilight believes they are innocent, and Applejack believes they are guilty. My question I have is who would be on TeamSparkle, and Who would be on TeamAJ. The particpants of this dispute are.

There has to be total substance for this "civil war" to be justified. This is by far the biggest challenge of this fic. Personally, the CMC causing damage to Ponyville just feels rather cheap and petty (no offense). It has to be something that really tests the friendship between Twilight Sparkle and company. Dig deep and think about all of the trials and tribulations that really tested the friendship between Twilight and her friends.
