G1 vs G5 Posey

What do you think? Why did they make Posey in G5 so unlikeable They are clearly based on each other in terms of colour scheme and love of gardening...

Different depiction of a character for a new entry in the series, happens to countless characters from various franchises that have decades of history, you have new people behind a new project, they'll do their vision of the characters.

But in case of Posey I think maybe it's also something else, I haven't seen her G1 version for myself yet, but the way you described her in the image, doesn't she remind you of Fluttershy? So, I believe, Posey herself already resembles Fluttershy in appearance, if G5 Posey was like Fluttershy in personality they would be way too similar to each other, people would make a lot of comparisons, so they decided to make her completely different as a character, pretty antagonistic, even similar to the "Arrogant version" of Fluttershy we see in some moments from FiM , I think they did a genius move  (plus I think we already have way too much super friendly characters in G5, so it's good to have someone like her around )

oh - yep, more of a tactical rebrand, like the rebranding of Rarity and Pinkie and ofc Dashie in FiM.

I do think it's odd that they left her a gardener though. You would think with the earth pony power being plant related, Posey would be portrayed as a special pony, but no she's made butt of the joke instead D: always felt weird to me.

I wish they'd made ore of Sprout's mom as a villain. She was great in the movie. Doesn't it feel a bit more natural to have Sprout's mom play the role they give to Posey?

I think they just liked Posey more XD Phyllis Cloverleaf reappears in TyT Season 1 and MyM, but all of her appearances are irelevant or just cameos, and Sprout doesn't even appear in TyT, Posey wasn't there in the movie, so I think they just decided to introduce new characters, but after a time they just forget about them or make them into background characters, that's a problem with G5 specially TyT

I like Posey. I like both their designs. I'm not too familiar with g1 since the only thing I saw from that generation was the 1986 movie
