Is it possible to create anonymous threads?

That's a fairly interesting idea.

The only problem would be accountability to people who troll / flame / cause problems doing that.

As long as Staff could see the thread creator, that could work ... and possibly be quite useful.

We are extremely accepting here at MLP Forums. Heck, if you were evil we would probably still be nice to you. So whatever it is, we will support you.

But even if you could, people would know who you are as the first anon thread poster.

Oops.

You're probably better off just posting it in the Life Advice thread. We're a pretty nice group of people anyway.

This is currently not possible. It would require custom development and I can certainly imagine a few uses for the ability to create "anonymous" topics; but part of what differentiates a forum community from, say, an imageboard, is that everything you do is associated with your account, making it easier to build an image and connect your content together.

The Life Advice section is closed off to guests and anyone with fewer than 40 posts, so that's your best bet if you want to have a little more privacy than the other sections afford (most of which are fully open to the entire world).

Alternatively, if there are specific members whom you think could help you out, you can start a personal conversation with them to create a "private thread" comprised of private messages.

What Strife said, accountability is key, though if the staff still knew, it'd probably be fine. Although, do we really want to add more to their workload?

Wait, of course we do. Posted Image

I would never find a purpose for the feature myself, but I can see why some might find it appealing.

One thing I wanted to add: if you are so embarrassed about what it is you want to share that you aren't willing to attach your online identity to it, you might want to reconsider sharing it at all. There are agencies that dedicate themselves to dealing with personal issues anonymously which may be in a better position to help you out than a My Little Pony fan forum. Kids Help Phone is one that I would personally recommend.

OH no its nothing super drastic or anything i appreciate the advice and concern. it's just a "little embarrassing" and it involves MLP so i figured the fans would be the perfect place to start.

I wouldn't normally advocate this, but I might let you have your thread removed after it has run its course. Please PM me if this is something you would like to do, with an explanation of what exactly it is that you want to start a topic for.
