RIP Bob Uecker

It is with a heavy heart I must inform you all that Mr. Baseball, the voice of the Milwaukee Brewers, Bob Uecker, has passed away at the age of 90 from lung cancer.

This man did it all. Army veteran. Baseball player of six years, even being a member of the 1964 world champion St.Louis Cardinals. WWE Hall of famer for his guest commentary roles in WrestleMania's III & IV. SNL Host. 100 appearances on the Johnny Carson show. A decent acting stint as George Owens in the sitcom Mr. Belvedere and as Cleaveland Indians announcer Harry Doyle in the Major League films. An '80s icon for his Miller Lite commercials that helped redefine the nosebleed section of Wisconsin venues into 'The Uecker Seats.' Brought a humors slant to sports programming with Bob Uecker's Wacky World of Sports and Bob Uecker's War of the Stars/ The Lighter Side of Sports.

And of course, the voice of his hometown Milwaukee Brewers across 54 seasons of baseball, the second longest announcing career for a single team in baseball history. His jovial attitude and self deprecating, sarcastic wit made games fun to listen to. He wasn't just give a distinctive voice to the Brewers. He was the gold standard for broadcast baseball. My best baseball memory with my dad, was seeing Brewers best the Cubs in a wild play, with Uecker screaming "Get off that wall!"

So grill yourself up some Usengers sausage, crack open a bottle of Sprecher, order yourselves the 5 for $6 combo from George Webb, nab a flavor of the day concrete mixer from Culver's and enjoy some of Bob's work today, whether it's Major League, Savage vs. Steamboat from WMIII (you can skip Hogan/Andre), The Wacky World of Sports or just some Brew Crew classics.

Rest in Power, Bob. May your legacy live on.

Get up. Get up. Get out of here. Gone.
