Art Gallery Tabs for User Profiles

I understand there are places on the forums to post such things, but what if there was an art gallery tab for user profiles? Something that users could customize to an extent too, as in allowing different files types/extensions though that could prove to be a technical challenge.That way people can organize their art/portfolio in a certain tab specialized for them instead of putting many images in the "about me" section.

I support the idea, the closest I could find to that is posting each art / image individually and putting a key word in them, so you can use the Forum's search options to see only the posts with that keyword and these specific arts. And then using the link of that search for the keyword and putting it in your profile. I use that method, but it's not the same thing.

But I think you need to give more details, how exactly would it work? Like, the images would be individual uploads or they would be from separate sources? They would be separated by date? Two or more arts posted in the same day would be organized separately or they would be together?

Thanks Rafa!!!! You gave me some more ideas! Maybe users could upload images directly like how they do for profile pictures? There would be a limit on the number of images and/or cap size for the files too as I assume this would take a lot of server space?  Then images could be organized by date and/or have an option to create albums or categories similar to how we have blogs here. Maybe they could have a grid layout that shows thumbnails that could expand where users click on them? Oh!!! The option to make the gallery public or private too would be nice too.

I'm trying to look at it in regards to keeping integration to the already existing forums structure while making it easy to implement for the staff. This would allow users to showcase their art without cluttering up the About Me section.

What do you think?

Having thumbnails for each keyword search result in my strategy would make it more useful, at least that's what I believe, but since that doesn't happen, well. I need to know one thing first. Would this art tab have images only, or also text? Because if we imagine that'll include text, how that text would work? I ask this because every part of this site that includes text, pretty much uses the same basis programming to create texts, the same editor, the same everything. The forum posts, the status updates, the private messages, the clubs, the blogs, the signature, everything. I could be wrong, but from what i saw, all of them use the same process to make texts and add images. Would this art tab use a completely different operation language to add the images? I believe that's why you used the profile picture as example, because the profile pictures (and banners) don't go through that process. But I just don't know how exactly it works, so the fact that you want a new tab that could work completely different from the rest of the site could be too difficulty for the site's owners to do, I guess at least, based on what I said, I imagine you want something that feels different enough from just a extra "About Me" tab with a lot of images put into it.

Well it's still a working concept.

 

I wish "My Followed Content" could be accessible through my About Me section instead of having to click your name in the upper right corner of the forum.

I understand, keyword search would be very useful in that regard, this is why I mentioned trying to look at it in regards to implementation because if everything revolving text uses the same language, but the pfps/banners don't, I can imagine trying something different from the rest of the site could be too difficult/ impossible for them to attempt here. Ideally, it would be it's own unique thing, but that it's still able to integrate within the already existing site structure, so it would have to remain relatively simple in regards to programming.

Well, you know the five tabs in your profile/status section About Me, Activity, Blogs, Friends and Clubs?

I wish there was another tab in that section where the "Manage Followed Content" option would reside. I'm honestly just lazy probably.

Hmmm. You have me another random  idea Sparklefan. 
 

How’s this? Customizable user tabs. Like ones that can let you choose what you want in each tab, let’s say you don’t want the blog tab and want to switch it out for example, with the “manage followed content” (which could be connected with other favorite threads of that user) on their profile. They would use the same programming logic as the rest of the site, you are just deciding what is visible and invisible. Though I am getting ahead of myself lol

YES! I know I joined clubs but I don't use them at all so the tab in my profile section is growing cobwebs. 🕸️
