Why magic in DC Universe sucks

The reason why I say magic in DC Universe sucks is this, Constantine, if it is possible for him to accidentally trap a girl in Hell for a spell going wrong, the same is possible for any magic user in DC fiction, Zatanna, Raven, Etrigan,  the list goes on.

I could not think of a worse plot in a story to have something written in, and I say this as somebody who likes Wonder Woman in DCAU, I think Constantine himself is a decent character, although he exists in a different continuity entirely, but I often see him get blamed for things which amount to entrapment, and I don't like that, that is not the worst part about this though, his occupation pretty much requires him to dabble in magic and use it for self defence, it just comes with the unfortunate consequence of dabbling in unstable types of spells to banish evil spirits, but when there is practically no safeguard against sending a child into another dimension by accident, even if you're working on the side of good, those powers are worse than useless, they are broken.

 

I see that Twilight Sparkle would sometimes get the blame in Hasbro's My Little Pony Friendship is Magic for her spells going wrong, even when she did not mean it, but at least magic in MLP is not this broken.
