G5 movie......eh?

I've seen the G5 movie now and.....it has potential. Not sure why at the start in the big-arse rainbow they had the mane 6 form g4 there again, apart from obviously trying to get older audiences, I guess, excited about the newest generation of MLP, and maybe part of the story telling too of what happened after gen4 when all the pony races decided to stop being friends, again. Though why the movie doesnt seem to want to explain. The writing is.....will they try. To it's credit half of the jokes do land AND are clever, especially love the "phoney pony baloney" line. That was good. Though the writing I felt was hampered by the quick pace the movie seem to go (though it being primarily a kids film, and how I heard that most kids films, least these days move fast and furious, I give it a pass) the ending felt a bit weak. Apart form of course the huge plot hole in their hunt for the two crystals, and seeing that a GIANT round hole is left in the centre of the jewel once put together, not one pony looks and thinks "Hmmmmm maybe there's a third round jewel to put it all together. But I digress.

Back to the ending: I thought it was hilarious how Pip or what the red stallions name was, ended up look like Muahmmar Ghadafi (hope I got his name right) and was like "Heyyy ponies, have you heard of a way to defeat our enemies, military junta?" "Huh that sounds cool yeah." Than the heroes come in and were like "No, other ponies our friends, military junta bad." "Huh that sounds cool alright" -Red stallion.- "But than they'll fry our brains!" "Huh okay, back to military junta" It would have been hard to watch the rest of the show if they didn't add some other stuff like a giant pony, hint and potential deaths of some ponies if no one stepped in like he sheriff and Zipp (even if they their only though process was "we gotta stop Pip!" -Jumps on base of machine.- "M'kay we're here. Now what.")

All in all....it wasn't bad.
