First off, I didn't see a computer section so I posted here.

 

So I am starting up a PHP development hub and was wondering if anyone had any ideas for a good PHP script? I thought about making a lightweight forum software a la "MyBB meets IPB" or something similar. I'm not gonna post any links to avoid this thread being an advertisement, however, if you want to help, PM me. If you do not know what PHP is, it is a scripting language used to make websites like MLPForums (more info here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PHP).

 

Especially admins like Feld0 and such should see this thread, whatever PHP script you want I'll do it!

 

Oh yeah and the studio is called ScripteePHP.

Are you making this just for fun, or are you actually planning on marketing and selling it?

I was planning doing a model similar to how Red Hat markets their OSes: a free community-maintained version (Fedora), and a professional corporate-code version (Red Hat Enterprise Linux/RHEL).

 

The corporate version would have support, extra security and such. For price, I was thinking $50 with $10 for 1 year of updates. IPB/vB/XenForo is waaaaay too overpriced IMO.

I definitely agree on the latter. Do you think it will be more IPB-esque than MyBB, or vice versa? I'll message you right now for a link, I'm intrigued.
