[OC] View from the above

I haven't posted anything in this forum for quite some time since I was limiting my activity mainly to the Deviantart and little bit on the Tumblr as well. This is just a continuation of a character experiment I've been doing with my OC Silvermist to see what kind of design would work on her while fitting the strict set of criteria I've set upon her.

 

She's supposed to be a very aged one and wears full covering cloth in her present state, but since I've been considering her much younger form, not having any cloth on would make her look too blank with all kinds of negative space opening up and I wanted to work on solving that problem.

 

Adding a simple curvy gradient on her hair did help made her look less empty by adding some interesting feature, but the design now doesn’t feel coherent with her wings and I will have to solve that problem. I wasn’t particular happy with her tail either since the place clearly is out of place in terms of equine anatomy, but since the mistake was made during the under-sketch process and it was too late to realize it, I’ve decided against making drastic amends to the problem and simply took as a lesson learned for the next time.

 

Putting a character in an interesting perspective (even though this is still much easier compared to some more extreme perspective angle) is always interesting because it constantly puts me under a stress to think everything in terms of form. Since art is still very much a new field of study for me, only years and years of constant training will help me coming up with better foundations I suppose.

Edit: I realized that on my smaller picture, the nose placement is different then my 'revised' version on DA because I realized the nose placement looked out of place with how her headline worked. So if the head feels weird, see if my 'revised' version helps.
