Creamy Arty 6,252 December 4, 2012 Share December 4, 2012 A food thread? Food threads rule. My sweet tooth is insatiable. Christmas/figgy puddings are my favorite, along with FRUITCAKE. That's right, I like fruitcake for more than its use as a doorstop. But I don't mean just any fruitcake, I make fruitcake. It has what is in my estimation the perfect ratio of fruit to cake, and it's not at its best until it's had a month to sit and soak up some brandy or rum. After baking, I wrap the cake in a cheese cloth and every week I pour one cup of either brandy or rum over the cake. Choosing between either rum or brandy is hard so I often make two cakes at a time.
