Need help on hair shading (tips maybe?) :( HELP

I need help and some tips on hair shading, I really don't know how they work, like i don't get the lighting etc. 

 

I drew it on paint too SAI.

 

I've brought the construction lines up so you guys could see it.

 

The hair is the only part im struggling on, im fine with the eyes etc, I've looked into other artist's work but I don't know, it's just not helping i tried googling anime hair shading but wow, it's as hard as a baby doing algebra...

 

i think ill be fine with the body shading, (it's not shaded yet)

I won't pretend to be an expert on shading...especially since I draw with a pencil, not on the computer. When I shade the hair I usually just make it slightly darker wherever it's closest to the body (especially around the ears) and on the inside of any curves in the mane or tail, but again that's just me. I don't have an example to show you since the pictures of my drawings are on my phone. Since the hair isn't really shaded in the show, aside from Rarity, it's mostly up to the artist's interpretation. 

 

By the way it looks really good so far!

woudn't that make it a little 2D? the thing is, rainbow dash and scootaloo have spiky hair, so it's coming out in almost all directions, including towards to viewer itself, so I don't really know how to make that happen. they made it in anime, but not in mlp
