Nohbdy 4,108 May 18, 2013 Share May 18, 2013 (edited) After procrastinating for way too long, I finally decided to make my first forays into the world of pony art. The original plan was to get the proportions perfectly right (based on measurements of a reference picture) before starting the drawing, but I ended up drawing the whole thing after just practicing the hind leg. That's why I didn't have room for the tail. I also used a mechanical pencil, which probably isn't the best choice for drawing. The result is this hastily drawn, fairly crude Twilight Sparkle. In the future, I may either improve this drawing using either traditional or digital tools, or I may work on another pony. Anyway, I'd love to get better, so constructive criticism is definitely appreciated. Don't hold back, either--I can take it Edited May 18, 2013 by Тwilight Sparkle

Sweet Dreams 1,893 May 18, 2013 Share May 18, 2013 Okay, you can take it, huh? Here it comes! *gasp* The eyes are too close to the muzzle, the body's too long, the ear's too big, the horn's not pointy enough, the cutie mark is too messy and she's overweight. Seriously, she should lay back on the Churros. Now, while all that I said just then is true, the simple fact is that it's all nitpicking. Especially the one about the horn, that was borderline ridiculous. XD Now, the good thing I have to say here is that this is a really good start. You actually got a whole lot more right than you did wrong, and, as I said before, they're just little things I nitpicked. After a little practice, I'm sure those minor flaws won't appear very much. And, if I know one thing, it's that this is way better than half of my first drawings of ponies. I'd really like to see more of your work, and I hope you'll continue with your drawings!
Nohbdy 4,108 May 18, 2013 Author Share May 18, 2013 Yeah, proportions were pretty difficult to get down. I'll try to keep a closer eye on them in the future. Next time, I might try my hand at a pegasus. Wings look fun to draw. Anyway, thanks for the critique, guys
