This character minimum prevents a poster from submitting their post unless they have at least a certain number of characters. (In this case letters, numbers, symbols, etc.) The reason the MLP Forums has this system is to reduce the number of posts that could be considered spam and pointless, such as one or two word responses. You will receive warnings worth 100 points for a violation of the character minimum, as stated in the "warning points" FAQ. The minimum is there to encourage more in depth discussion and prevent the infamy of people posting short responses just to raise their post counts. Signature made by me.
