A little mixing advice?

As you can hear in this song, the guitar sounds a bit drowned out. I've tried using EQs, adjusting the amp simulator, and even playing differently, and the only way I could make it sound good was by mixing it louder, but then the master output would start clipping. What else could I try to get this sounding right?
