What kind of software do you use? I just use whatever is free. I usually make 8-bit remixes and whatnot and the softwares I use are FamiTracker, MuseScore (The Main one I use),Reason(Can;t figure it out though), and Audacity.

I actually have been using the free trial of Ableton Live 9, however that is about to run out for me. I will be switching back to Mixxx (it's free, check it out) once it runs out. I will also be looking into Virtual DJ. -Fr0st

Ableton 9 is alright, I personally have given my heart to 8, because there are just some things they did in 9 that I don't agree with.  Until they fix the interface, as well as the functionality of the arrangement view, I'll stick with 8.

Thanks for the advice! I'll look into it. Also, as I said earlier I am using Ableton Live 9, a fantastic program may I add. Thanks, Fr0st

I know you use Ableton, as do I.  I was referring to the VST that you were using.  It sounds like you were using the "Massive" plug-in.  Is that what you were using?

I wasn't actually using any plugins. I used a vocoder for the start along with some effects, and then I just did whatever sounded right to the rest of the piece xD. I really just add in a few clips and effects along with some automation for my mixes. -Fr0st

Do you know anything about FM synthesis, and modulation?

You can use the vocoder, along with a carrier synth to change the voice into a digital voice.  Daft Punk used that in "harder better faster stronger".

Just thinking like, instead of just adding a vocoder noise to the intro, you could change it into a complete electro voice or something.  Given the context of the piece, I think that would be really fitting.  Then bring the voice back in during certain parts of the song.

No, actually :3 I am new to Ableton in general, and unfortunately I was only using the 30 day trial of it. I won't be continuing to use it, as I will be going back to DJing and mixing instead of producing and whatnot. Thanks for the idea, anyways. Maybe one day I'll actually spend some money on it xD Thanks, Fr0st
