Exhibitors Adding Showings Of "My Little Pony Equestria Girls" Due To Consumer Demand

NEW YORK, July 1, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- When Screenvision teamed up with Hasbro Studios and Shout! Factory to bring the full-length feature, My Little Pony Equestria Girls to cinemas across the U.S. and Canada beginning June 16 they had great expectations. Those expectations have been exceeded, with packed houses and numerous sell outs by exhibitors in major markets, leading partners to add more showings in both the morning as well as evening times, giving fans more opportunities to experience the film in theatres.

"We're happy for Hasbro Studios and Shout! Factory, and together we are proud of the marketing and social media efforts that have made this offering such a hit with theatre-goers," stated Darryl Schaffer, Screenvision's Executive Vice President, Operations & Exhibitor Relations.

"We have screened similar animated family films before and never had this level of attendance," added Jenn Rustin of UltraStar Cinemas, based in southern California. "It exceeded expectations and we were pleased to have such a strong turnout of guests who thoroughly enjoyed the movie."

When was the last time a movie like this one, meant for limited release, did well enough to have this happen?

This is pretty special, and awesome news for the MLP: FiM fandom...

That's cool, hope it means it's coming to more theaters because I'd like to see it in my city. If it doesn't that's okay though, I can wait till August 6th to see it on DVD, unless this means they're delaying that...

I hadn't thought about a DVD delay due to this - that's a good point. Hopefully it comes to your city.

This means extra $$ in the pockets of the powers-that-be that they apparently weren't expecting. It doesn't mean a full-length MLP: FiM movie will be seriously discussed - but, of all the things that could've happened to make would-be producers go "Hmm, maybe we should consider it", this is definitely one of them.
