Fraggle Rock 0 July 9, 2013 #2 Share July 9, 2013 Well, as I'm sure you've noticed, everypony's name relates to their special talent and/or personality.Rainbow Dash is a glaring example of this, but sometimes it's more subtle.Twilight Sparkle is a good one, since her cutie mark is a visual representation of a "sparkle",and it also vaguely relates to her special talent, as sparkles are often associated with magic(think Fairy Godmother wands and so on). Then you have names like Pinkie Pie.While she is pink, this isn't really a trait of her personality or her special talent, and there is certainly no pie in her cutie mark (but perhaps in her belly from time to time). It is, however, a name that is fun to say, and sounds like the name of a pony who may act childish. It's just a cute, silly name, really, and silly is what Pinkie's all about. What I'm getting at with this one, is that you don't necessarily have to name someponywhose special talent isplaying baseball something like "Straight Pitch", "Home Run", or "Pop Fly" or something, but you definitely wouldn't name him "Peanut", "Jim Jam", "Pony Boy Jones", or anything else sandwich-like.Point being:What is your pony's special talent? What are his personality traits? These are the things I would take into account in naming anypony. For example, my sister-in-law is a hyper-active preteen with messy blonde hair and golden brown eyes. Her favorite ponies are Lyra and Bon Bon (but Lyra more than Bon Bon), Derpy, and Vinyl Scratch / DJ Pon-3,She likes soccer, loves to go fast, idolizes Rainbow Dash, and pretends she's a Wonderbolt, but most of all,she just never stops rushing around like she's had way too much candy.Using all this information, I created the pony you see in my avatar,Sugar Rush, an impatient pegasus pony who loves to play games of all kinds, and aspires to be a Wonderbolt. Her name may not be super imaginative, but it gets the point across and represents her well. Those are my tips.Just looking at him, I'd say Claude von Trot, Stephen Trotter, or Ricky Winterborne, because of his white coat. Alex Kennedy 1,228 July 9, 2013 #4 Share July 9, 2013 I'm terrible at coming up with names, but I just felt like I should mention that your OC looks pretty much like a more detailed and generally better designed version of one of mine. Real men don't need signatures... or legitimate usernames.
