My Draconequus OC

Yea. I made one. He's supposed to be a young draconequus, and he doesn't really have a name yet (Though I've been thinking Noxus sounds okay). Yea. I'll color him when I get supplies layer this week (probably Wednesday) There are several things I would have liked to fix... oh well.

Very nice sketch ya got there. o3o Though obviously simplistic, I love the distinct style that makes him look cartoony, friendly, and almost anime-ish. Especially on his face. :3

 

On another note, ERMUHGURD DRACONEQUUS OC! wut. That's either extremely random or extremely awesome, both of which I happen to love.

haha thanks! I had the sudden urge to draw a draconequus OC, so I was like "EHhhhhhhhhhhhh.... sure."  What I'm thinking for him right now is that he acts more like a pony than somedraconequus (that doesn't sound right ) like Discord. It also helps that he's about the size of the average stallion.

xD 'Somedraconequus', nice.

 

I feel like this kind of character would have a ton of potential for exploration in a fanfic...they would have no idea how to act and who to side with, having no real moral upbringing (or an unusual one). They could be an outcast or a loner, who might act a lot like a superhero with their epic powerz and uniqueness. o3o

 

I would totally write a fanfic with that kind of character, if I wasn't already working on one or two already.

Yay! I actually totally didn't expect that....i was kinda just rambling x3 But by all means, go ahead; that sounds awesome.

 

Oh yeah, and shoot me a PM if you want me to proofread a section of it to help with story/writing style/general advice/whatevsies. I do wuv to help out writerz as long as I don't have to proofread a bunch of sections, cuz I have a tendency to take hours analyzing  one chapter x3!

That sounds pretty awesome, but with character names—especially in MLP, where characters can be literally named after common words and expressions—I try to keep them very symbolic and/or relevant. The name should be related to whatever central concept(s) the character represents or deals with.

"Noxus" is pretty badass, but given that Latin names aren't common in the MLP universe (i think), people might find that a bit wierd, unless the character has something to do with the night. But then again, it's your story if you write it, so do whatcha want

that is how it is spelled but technically discord is a chimera not a draconequus, although he is called a draconequus even though he is not

And this is incorrect. A chimera is a greek mythological creature made up of three different animals: A goat, a snake and a lion. A draconequus is a creature made up by Lauren Faust, which have the head of equines and body parts consisting of multiple different animals, not just three like a chimera. Never thought my knowledge of mythology would come in handy.

ampharos according to this site http://mlp.wikia.com/wiki/Discord The word "draconequus" is composed of the Latin "Draco" or Greek "drakon", and Latin "equus", meaning "dragon-horse", and no a chimera is not just from Greek mythology, and no it's not just three animals, sometimes more, sometimes part human,

Well he is a draconequus...

 

...oh yeah, good point. *hits self for being a stupid* Still, I think that if you do have a cool Latin name, it should be symbolic/relevant, unless of course Noxus is a character centrally themed around the night, like Luna.

 

Also, Discord is in fact a Draconequus, but "chimera" is often a blanket term for a beast that is a mishmash of various creature parts, so calling him that is not wholly incorrect.

I decided to name him Solus. It's pretty funny considering it sounds like it would be the opposite of Noxus. It means alone in latin, and since he's a nomad who travels alone, it makes sense.
