Fox 5,330 July 26, 2013 Share July 26, 2013 I misunderstood what you wanted to be as LPer. I thought you meant larper. Live Action Role Play. I myself have done editing in the past, unfortunately I don't stick to it too much anymore. I will summarize what you should get yourself into, if you happen to dive into the editing yourself. Usually, it's best to work either Adobe Premier, or Sony Vegas. If you want to get yourself into custom special effects Adobe Photoshop, and After Effects are a great asset. If you are just interested in getting into recording console games on your TV. Then I suggest getting a capture card, and if you are working from PC games, then Fraps, CamStudio, and ect; they're are essential. Basically you can make a video easily, it's really just learning to cut clips, and stick em' where you want. If you want a cinema opening... then you might want to request that, if someone knows how to play with Adobe After Effects well. Good luck on your projects.
Gay Bird 421 July 26, 2013 Share July 26, 2013 Nothin Hollywood or huge, but above average. Well I guess I'm over-qualified then. When I was doing let's plays, I actually edited all my videos myself using nothing but windows movie maker and the sh*t mic built in to my laptop. I slowly moved up in the world with a better mic, better edting software, and a better computer. I could get you started by editing for the first few episodes, but only you have the vision of what you want your videos to look like, so it's best if you get to the point where you can edit yourself. Until then, I hope you can find someone to help. I would if I could, but I already have too much on my plate. As a let's player myself, I can recommend some things. First, a list Microphone (blue snowball is good) $50 Editing software (Sony vegas is probably the best) $50 to $75 If on PC: a good PC $700-$1000 capture software (FRAPS) $30 If on console Capture card (blackmagic intensity shuttle is best) $200 Audacity (for recording your voice) FREE! when you're recording, make sure you record your voice and game audio seperately. Have fraps or your capture card record the game audio, and use audacity to record your voice. Also, have a point where you click on a certain button (like saying 3...2...1...click) to have a clear point in the audio and video to sync the two together with. In the editing, you really want to cut out a lot. Have only the interesting bits where you're making a joke, you come across a bug in the game, or a major story point in the game. You don't want to be watching a guy just walking around and saying umm. When you upload to youtube, make sure the title is unique, and not just "let's play saints row III" make it something creative. Include a description and as many tags as humanly possible. Youtube's system doesn't watch your video, so it only knows what you tell it. There's no limit to how many tags you can have, so include everything you can think of. Finally, have a regular schedule of videos. Sometimes I would record for two hours and get about 6 episodes out of it that I would release every week. I hope this helps you, and that it gives you something to save your money for. 1 Check out my youtube channel and my soundcloud too! https://soundcloud.com/sonic_force

MLPForums Phanact 1,374 July 26, 2013 Share July 26, 2013 If you're recording PC game footage then DXTORY beats everything. It has less of a performance hit, it doesn't cut up your video files every however many minutes or gigabytes and it can use all 4 cores of the CPU and also use the GPU for encoding and capturing. DXTORY will also record your game audio and your voice audio on completely seperate channels so you can edit both audio streams individually and this then gets rid of the need for an external voice recording program. let's love for me and lets love loud and let's love now cause soon enough we'll die
long gone 8,929 July 26, 2013 Share July 26, 2013 I'd offer to volunteer as I'm interested in doing Let's Plays myself, but due to me being a college student and I-95 being a traffic nightmare during the afternoon (have to go along it to get to and from college :/) plus me having a life of my own and homework to do and everything, I can't guarantee my dedication to video editing.
