Need some ideas for an OC

Unfortunately I'm not a very creative person, at all. I'm having trouble coming up with ideas for one.

 

The only things that I can think up thus so far:

 

-I want my OC to be an pegasus or earth pony

 

So I'm not requesting anything, but I'm just trying to brainstorm with others.

Well I kind of want my OC to be a mix of Scootaloo, and Twilight Sparke, but I don't want to copy them if you know what I mean.

Ok so you have base idea, so how about let's add a little more context are there anything ideas or parts Equestria, that really haven't been explored in show a great deal. For example, my OC was created because I was interested in the idea of potion making, and it wasn't a really heavily explored theme within the show.

Well I'm not really sure what to add. Like I remember Trixie was from parts unknown, and not really explored. Something like that you mean?

Well sure, I mean if you find the idea of an explorer interesting. Like just off the top my head, why not make your character someone who travels, not for treasure like Daring Doo, but rather who travels to see parts unknown. Curious and ambitious your character travels due to their own sense of wanderlust, and understanding of other cultures.

I understand what you're getting at. I'll try to write a back story (a detailed one) later, but what should I make her look like?

For a traveler I feel like a pegasus would work better for some reason... Then again, that's just my opinion, you don't necessarily have to go with that if you don't want to.

I like the idea of a Pegasus traveller becuase they are the most nimble of the pony races. For looks, I think you should use something like tattered clothing, like a cloak and possibly goggles to cover the eyes from the elements. Think of something similar to the Fremen from the book Dune. If you don't know what I'm talking about here's a pic.

@@Nomadic: Well to be honest with you I kind of just want my pony to be a normal pony that lives in the Ponyville. I know it sounds generic, but still that's kind of what I'm feeling.

 

Maybe she could have a job of sorts?

Ok, you want to something a little more local, but with those traits. I can work with that. How about something like a merchant, artist, musician, or possibly an inventor. Each of them would bring something different.

 

A merchant would be interesting one because we know little to nothing about how Equestria's economy operates, and would give you a fair amount of creative freedom. While both Musician and Artist they could have a love of their environment, whether it be natural or unnatural, and could give a unique perspective, my only problem with this one is there are many OC's that are artists. Finally, the inventor could either be something with a dream of making life easier for other ponies, or somepony who simply dreams of exceeding his expectations, like an Earth pony who wishes he could fly.
