"Well, we need to get him back to base quickly! He needs medical attention!" Blast tries to pick up the surviving pony and put him on his back. He felt quite heavy and it felt like it was breaking his back. "Hey, guys... I could... use a little bit of... assistance here."

"Steady, I'll help" Leo went over and tried to balance the weight

 

*Click*

 

"Put your damn guns down!" A voice said

 

Every pony turns to see a green Pegasus with a shotgun aimed at the group. He had some noticeable wounds, including a deep gash to the head and broken wing.

 

Peppermint quickly aimed his pistol at the Pegasus, who I turn aimed the shotgun at him.

 

"Easy there" Leo warned, as he dropped the unconscious pony he was help carrying and reached for his pistol

 

"You monsters!" the Pegasus yelled "Come to finish us off? Have you?"

 

Peppermint tries to keep his revolver aimed and use his data pad at the same time, scanning the Pegasus "What are you talking about?" Peppermint asked

Blast turns to the pegasus. He looked quite frightened. "Fellow stallion, please put down the gun. We don't want to harm you. I am Blasted Nova, and these are my associates, Leo and Slavik. We want to help you. If you just put down the gun, we can take you somewhere safe." Blast spoke in a calming tone.

"Exactly, now please put the gun down sir" Peppermint reassured "We don't want to-"

 

"I ain't putting my gun down!" He screamed "First my daughters, then my wife... now me! Ain't going to happen!" The Pegasus shook his weapon around violently

 

"Hey, are you Mr. Sunshine?" Leo asked

 

Whilst the Pegasus was distracted, Peppermint whispered to Blast "Scans show he's suffering from shock, minor blood loss and a fractured skull. He's probably not all there"

 

"How do you know my name?" Mr. Sunshine shouted "I bet my wife cried out my name as you... you... raped her!" His eyes started tearing, but his gun was still aimed. Specifically at Leo.

 

Leo flinched slightly at the gun "Quit waving that around! Someone talk some sense into this pony!"

Blast was shocked. Slavik was right. He wasn't in his right mind. "None of us did such thing, stallion. If you know of the leader of the group that did this to your family, we could find them and give them what for. But that can only happen if you drop the weapon and cooperate. We want to help you..."

"Help me?" Sunshine spat in the ground and laughed nervously "You think I'm... I'm... stupid? No way sonny!"

 

Peppermint's grip on his pistol tightened "Blast, keep checking if that unconscious pony is breathing" He turned to Sunshine "We've got injured with us. Killing us isn't going to make things better for either party here"

 

"That's because you shot up the place!" Sunshine waved his gun around again "You took all our-"

 

BANG!

 

Sunshine was dead before he hit the ground. A bullet hole right between his eyes. A deathly silence hung in the air.

 

"Oh shit..." Leo gasped, a smoking pistol in his hoof

 

"What in Discord's name is wrong with you?" Peppermint yelled "You should of shot him in the leg, not kill him!"

 

"He was waving his gun man! I panicked!" Leo tried to calm himself down

"EVERYPONY SHUT UP!" Blast shouted. He settled down as the two stallions went quite. "It's done. He's dead. Just leave the body here. We have more important things to worry about. We need to get this injured stallion back to the base quickly." Blast picked up the injured pony and began to walk back.

As they were walking back. Peppermint gave the occasional glare at Leo, then taped away at his data pad. Leo kept mumbling to himself, his eyes full of fear, what was he going to tell Violet?

'Hey babe, how you doing? Shot your dad by the way, how about a kiss?'

 

He shook his head and looked at Blast, hoping the pony could offer some reassurance.

Blast continued to carry the wounded pony through the desert breeze. It was about 1:30 AM and it was starting to get a bit cold. It didn't help that the weight of the stallion was slowing them down. He was walking at Leo's side when he noticed a worried expression on his face. "What was with that guy? It seemed like you knew him."

Leo looked as if he was going to break down "That was Violet and Madrid's dad" He explained "And I shot him"

 

He tried to hold back tears that he could feel forming in his eyes "I'm a Marine. I'm meant to a the best of the best, and I bucked up back there. If Violet finds out, she'll never forgive me man"

Blast was bewildered. He couldn't believe what he just heard. "We killed your father"... how could they tell them that? Blast lowered his head and spoke softly. "I guess it's too late for him, then. Right now, all we can hope for is finding their mom. If she's still alive, then at least we'll have found one of them."

((OOC: Can't believe I've been using the wrong name, It's Peppermint who's with Leo and Blast, not Slavik!!!))

 

"Yeah man" Leo said "Just so we're clear, don't tell Violet or Madrid what happened back there. I rather tell her when I'm ready"

 

[[Meanwhile, several miles away]]

 

"Keep moving!"

 

A group of ponies, armed to the teeth, were galloping as fast as they can from 2-legged dinosaur like creatures. The distance was shortening between them.

 

"I knew we should have raided that crash site" A young unicorn shouted "The gunshot noises attracted those things!"

 

The leader of the group, a bald, bulky earth pony, unleashed a shot load of lead into a nearby predator. He knew they wouldn't be able to keep running for much longer.

Without hesitation, he aimed his shotgun at the young unicorn and blasted his leg off. He fell screaming, and the pursuing creatures stopped their chase to finish him off.

 

"Mike! What the heck?" One of the ponies exclaimed

 

"Shut up and keep moving" Mike barked "Or you're next"

Blast could hear a shotgun blast from a mile away. Seriously? Another one? It sounded like it was close by. He didn't want to put the other ponies in danger. He had to check it out. "Man, tonight just keeps getting better and better. You two take the stallion. I'll make it back." Blast jetted off towards the sound of the shot.

After many hours of walking, Blast had only one thing on his mind; the pegasus Leo shot. He tried not to think of it. It was done. It was time to move on. Soon, they arrived back at the base with the stallion "We need to find a medic!"

Romula spotted the group and smiled, until she noticed the unconscious pony they were carrying and the depressed look on Leo's face.

 

"What happened? Who is that?" She asked, running up to the group

 

Peppermint handed his datapad to Romula "Survivor we found, all the details of the mission are on the pad"

 

Romula took hold of the unconscious pony "We don't have any trained medical staff, but the Marines know basic first aid" She quickly trotted off

 

With the mission finished, Peppermint left Leo and Blast, not saying a single word to them.

 

"So... Should we go find Violet and Madrid? Just to let them know we're okay" Leo asked

Blast nodded and walked. "What are we going to tell them. We were walking through the desert and we accidentally killed your dad? They'll never forgive us." Blast said nervously. "Plus, we still need to find their mother. And Celestia knows where they she went off to."

Leo started walking over to the Sunshine Sister's shack

 

"Well, we should leave out the part where we killed them. That will just cause unnecessary drama" Leo bite his lip and tried to think hard "Either we don't bring it up, or we say they were dead when we found them. What do you think?"

 

The duo were nearing the shack.

The two were standing outside of the shack. "We still don't know if their mom is dead, though. If they bring them up, we'll say that we found the dad dead, but we're still searching for the mom. If they don't bring them up. don't say anything at all." Blast then knocked on the door.

"Yeah amigo, good thinking" He smiled "Thanks for having my back"

 

The door to the shack fell off, just as Violet was about to open it.

 

"We've been meaning to get that fixed" She rolls her eyes "So, did you find them? Or something related? I could really use some good news"

 

Madrid was sitting on her bed, listening in to the conversation.

Blast spoke up. "Well, we found your dad... but he wasn't alive. He looked like he experienced a sever head injury before his death. We didn't find your mom, though. We're going back out to find her." Blast tried to keep Violet from crying too much. "I'm so sorry, Violet."

"Fuuu..." Violet's voice trailed off into a soft weep. Madrid just stared at the ground and remained silent.

"I... I expected this... So it's not painful to hear" She forced a smile to her face "And you said mum was alive. Which is something I guess"

 

She wiped a tear from her eye and regained her composure.

 

"I'm just going to go for a quick walk. Need to get my head straight, you know? Look after Madrid for a while please?" Before any pony could respond, she trotted outside the shack

Blast watched as Violet trotted outside of the broken shack door. He sighed and took a seat next to Madrid. "I'm guessing you heard that?" Madrid gave a sad nod. Blast put his hoof on her shoulder. "Don't lose hope. We'll find your mother. I swear on my life that we'll find her."

Madrid still retained her blank look "Thank you" She replied

 

Leo walked over to the desk in the corner of the room. On it was a family photo of the sisters and their parents. He sighed and tried to keep him self occupied by looking through Violet's bookcase.

 

"Did you find the person who killed my father?" Madrid asked

Blast's eyes darted to Leo. He knew that Leo trusted him to keep it a secret. "Sadly, no we didn't. We found the bullet, however. But there were no traces of the killer in sight." Blast couldn't believe he was lying to Madrid, after she'd been so sweet to him. Blast swallowed the guilt and continued. "Bullet went right between the eyes."

Madrid's expression quickly changed from blank to serious, she looked at Blast "Can you promise me something?" She asked "Promise that you'll find his killer, and kill him?"

 

Leo covered his mouth to hide a small gasp that luckily no one heard. He quickly glanced over to Blast.

Blast almost went into a state of shock. He's stopped evil before, but he's never killed anyone. That just wasn't his thing. The most he would ever do is injure them. Now he's being told to kill someone. His eyes dropped down. "...Sure...I'll try." Blast said quietly.
