Leo interrupted the two "Madrid! You're too young to be talking about such things"

 

"I'm 17" she replied

 

"S-still! You can't go asking for Blast to kill someone"

 

Madrid titled her head slightly "But that's fair isn't it? A life for a life"

 

Violet returned from her walk.

"Sorry about that. I'm fine now" She gave a weak smile "Thanks for looking after Madrid"

Blast nodded. "It was no trouble, really." He got up and signaled for Leo to follow. They began to walk outside. "We'll be back with your mother. We'll just leave you ladies alone." Blast made sure the stallions got far away from the shack before speaking. "I can't do that, man. I can't kill someone."

"It's cool man, I'm not going to let you kill her dad's killer. You'd be killing me otherwise" Leo chuckled slightly "I think it's good if we just got some rest. Dawn will be here in a few hours, and we went through a lot of crap today"

 

Leo went in the direction of his shack

 

"I'll find you tomorrow amigo, we'll talk about finding Mrs. Sunshine then"

Blast nodded and walked toward the horizon. His home wasn't near the base. It was far off into the desert.

 

"I'll see you tomorrow, pal."

 

Blast jetted off into the distance and disappeared. He went back to his little ground of land somewhere in the desert in a matter of seconds and laid himself down. The coolness of the dark desert kept him happy as dusk slowly approached.

[[in Romula's office]]

 

"I see" Romula set down the datapad on her desk "He thought you were there to kill him?"

 

Peppermint nodded "Mr. Sunshine assumed we were going to finish him off. Which means-"

 

"Which means that there's a group of ponies out there who have broken protocol!" She slams her hoof into the desk "They must be punished in accordance to the law of Equestria"

 

"With all due respect ma'am" Peppermint took the datapad away, fearing Romula might hit it "It's not our problem"

 

Romula glared at Peppermint "Every pony who crashed here is my responsibility! If I don't act on that, I'm not acting as an effective leader" She sighed and leaned on her desk "We'll have to round up the Marines tomorrow and send them to that crash site again. See if we can find that group"

 

Peppermint shook his head "If you say so" He quietly left Romula's office

 

[[10:00 AM, Canteen]]

 

Leo shoved an orange into his mouth. He was happily enjoying his morning rations, eating was the only thing that allowed him to relax and take his mind off of things.

'Yes. Just yes' he happily thought to himself 'I wonder where Blast is, he's missing out'

A red blur ran through the desert at super sonic speeds. Any ordinary pony who saw that would be bewildered by it. The blur was approaching the base, as the marines watched in amazement. The blur screeched to halt, revealing a scarlet earth pony; Blasted Nova. Blast walked into the canteen to greet Leo.

Leo just finished his breakfast to see Blast walk by.

"Hey amigo" he greeted, wiping some fruit off of his face "Romula has just asked that every Marine goes over to her office. She's going to deliver another speech outside it"

 

Leo leaves his table and starts walking "Have a good sleep?" He asked

Blast snickered. "Let's just say that if I were to have a bed to sleep on instead of the sand, I would've slept a lot better." Blast began to eat his fruit and sat on a wooden stool. "You go to the meeting without me. It's for the marines. Not adventurers like myself."

"Sure thing, I'll be back when it's over" Leo then trotted off

 

A few minutes later, Violet and Madrid walked in. They got their morning rations and spotted Blast.

 

"Good morning" Violet greeted as she walked over, Madrid following "Mind if we sit and have breakfast with you?"

Blast smiled as he munched on an apple. "Nah. Take a seat." The two mares sat beside Blast and he drank his water. The desert was extra hot this morning, and running through it at sonic speeds built up a heck of a thirst. "You two seem better today. How are you?"

"Much better thanks" Violet smiled "A good night sleep does wonders"

 

Madrid munched her way through her breakfast. When finished, she eyes up Violet's barely touched fruit and steals a banana when no pony was looking.

 

"I didn't properly thank you yesterday for finding my father" Violet said "Despite the... result, I'm glad to have found out the truth"

Blast smirked and shrugged. "Eh. All in a days work." He said with confidence. "And don't worry. We'll find your mother. She's out there somewhere. I just know it." Blast saw Madrid munching on her breakfast and then something crossed into his mind; the thought of the killer. He tried to make that leave his mind as he continued to eat.

"Thanks" Violet smiled, she ruffled Madrid's mane "Madrid and I appreciate what you are doing"

 

Peppermint walked over to the group, emotionless as always. The trio looked at him, with Madrid's face covered in food, Peppermint rolled his eyes.

 

"I've come to inform you that Romula would like a word" He said "She's waiting in her office"

Blast finished the apple and got off of the chair. "What's the head honcho got for me today? My agenda's a little full at the moment." Regardless, Blast made his way to Romula's office and opened the door before knocking. "Knock-knock. Blasted Nova at your service."

Romula turned to the visitor "Good morning Blast" She welcomed

 

Romula took a seat at her desk and pulled out a datapad. She flicked through some of the information until she found what she was looking for.

 

"I'd just like to ask a few questions about last night, please take a seat"

"Sure thing, ma'am." Blast trotted to the chair and sat down in it. He hoped that she hasn't found out about any of the whereabouts from last night. If they were to spread, they could ruin him and Leo. He made sure he was comfy and he kicked back. "Alright. Fire away."

"I am aware that Leo shot Mr. Sunshine" She said bluntly "Peppermint told me"

 

She showed a picture on her datapad of the dead body. It was downloaded from Peppermint's datapad.

 

"Now normally I would punish him for breaking the law. However..." She relaxed into her chair and crossed her hoofs "I was hoping you could convince me otherwise. Seeing as you are the only other witness to the incident"

Blast fell into a state of pale. He couldn't believe Peppermint ratted them out. "Ma'am, I beg of you to not punish Leo. If this incident came out, it could ruin us. Look, me and Leo were going to go out again today to find the Sunshine Sisters' mom. Now, I'm going to make a deal with you. If we bring her back alive, you let the incident slide. If we don't, you can punish both of us. Deal?" Blast awaited her answer.

"I already have the Marines inspecting the crash site you visited. They've been instructed to keep an eye out for her, so you're not needed at the moment" Romula said in a well rehearsed manner

 

"And I agree with you, I don't want to punish Leo. But I have to ensure that the law is obeyed, no compromise what so ever" She started tapping at the datapad again "The only was we can help Leo, is if you can provide your witness account of the scene. That way I can try to get a solution that would satisfy both of us"

"Fine. I was trying to compromise with the lunatic. He was holding a gun and was shouting all of this jiberish about his wife and how he thought one of us... well, assaulted her. I guess Leo was panicing and... he shot him in the head. That's all I can really give you." Blast then changed the subject. "Now, about Mrs. Sunshine. Just telling your marine soldiers to guard the crash site won't help us find her. If you think it will, you're mistaking. I fully respect your thinking, ma'am, but I strongly suggest that you at least send me out to look for her. For all we know, she's out in the middle of the desert starving to death in the humidity"

Romula sighed and wrote down Blast's testimony into her datapad.

"That'll do for now I guess, I don't have the energy to argue" She stood up from her desk "As for the crash site. My main priority is eliminating the group that attacked Mr. Sunshine and his family. They are a big threat and kill many other ponies just as easily"

 

Romula rubbed her eyes, trying to keep herself awake.

 

"I would like for you to search for Mrs. Sunshine, I really do, but please understand me when I saw this" She walked closer to Blast "There is a good chance she could be as half crazy or dead as Mr. Sunshine was. She could end up killing you, and that blame would fall directly on me. That's something I would prefer to avoid"

"Romula, I think you forget who I am." Blast stood up and did a little pose. "I'm Blasted Nova, the fastest Earth Pony in Equestria and adventuring expert. I've been around the country and back, twice. I can easily get out of any situation and I'm always ready to help those in need. You can count on me to get the job done. You just sit back and let Blast do his work, alright?"

Romula face hoofed "You remind me of me. Before I joined the-"

 

*Bang!*

 

"What the heck?"

 

Suddenly Peppermint burst in, his frightened look on his face was out of character.

 

"Romula, we've got a group of Armed ponies outside, wanting to talk to you"

 

Romula gritted her teeth "Blast, we'll continue this later. Go with Peppermint and do what he says" She quickly trotted out of the office

 

Peppermint looked at Blast "Come with me" He went out the office

Blast sighed and walked out with Peppermint. "If these guys think they're going to come around here and start shooting ponies, they've got another thing coming." He walked outside and saw the armed mercs. They seemed armed to the teeth, but that didn't phase him.

Peppermint nudged Blast "Come on, keep moving" They made a quick stop to the armory, Peppermint picked up a sniper rifle. The duo then carefully climbed on top of one of the shacks.

 

"I need you to be my spotter" Peppermint explained "There are 5 ponies that we can see, but any pony with half a brain would have reserves hidden if things go sour" He set down his sniper rifle "Just make sure they don't see us, and keep an eye out"

Romula kept a pistol at her side. She walked towards the group, the opposing leader just smiled. Negotiations like this have been done many times throughout her career, as long as she had sniper support, she didn't have to worry about getting killed. Now it was just a question if the other ponies were stupid enough to threaten her.
