Idea for a Youtube series

So I've had this idea for a bit and was wondering what people would think of this. My idea would be to make a video series that's like the Cutie Art Crusaders but the main focus would be to highlight on artists that are not as well known. So this would pretty much show and critique artwork from artists that are below a certain amount of followers on deviantart or popularity on tumblr or anything else that would help out on how "popular" an artist is. 

 

Some problems that I can think of right now is that it might not be as popular as the CAC because it won't be covering select topics or cover the best art that is around. There is also the problem of having to ask artists and make sure with them that they are okay with their art showing up on this series. The last concern I have with this is that it might not be interesting. I would more than likely have to pick up some people that sound interesting and would be able to help me with this.

 

So if anyone here would like to say what they think about this, that'd be awesome. If this thread dies then i'll just take that as a "no one really cared" answer. If you'd also like to help with this that might help in making this a thing...since right now, this is more like an idea that will probably not happen unless i get some help.

It sounds like a great idea to me, but that's coming from an artist point of view (publicity!).

 

Your first worry shouldn't be a problem, depending how you go about it. You might have trouble if you go to artists and ask permission, but it should be fine if you have the artists come to you. Start a thread with a big "Free Publicity" sign, and there shouldn't be a shortage.

 

The worry of trying to keep it interesting is pretty real though...I don't look at art very often myself, and listen to critiques of art even less. The only thing I can think of is either entirely or partially showcasing artist who are offering art requests or commissions. That way, the viewers have something in it for them, and gives them a reason to keep watching in case a good deal comes up. You'd have to keep up with the artists, when they close requests or commissions and such though, and indicate changes on your videos.

I may get some crap for this but I was hoping to make this more like a showcase of artists that deserve more attention they get. So this wouldn't really be an open invitation sort of thing. I'm pretty much heavily basing this on the Cutie Art Crusaders videos. I don't know, for me, I would find it pretty cool for someone to start showing artists that are starting off and give them the crowd that they should have.

That's actually a really fantastic idea, I think you should defiantly go ahead with it! (If you do, please keep me posted because I would be keen to watch)
