OC Concepts

[Pop 32]

So in my boredom, I apparently started to brainstorm some ideas for a few MLP OCs for RPing. Because I really have nothing else to do (given GTA Online is a piece of garbage and won't work GRAAH)

 

Wanted to make OCs that had some relevance to the FiM universe, that don't try to be too jarring in my attempt to be "unique". But considering that my writing skills are just as abrasive as my drawing... eh, whatever.

 

Did two OCs emulating the now dead Fighting is Magic's art style. Because thick lines look way cooler for ponies.

 

 

 

Tinker Spot. She's based off the Gypsy horse a.k.a. the Tinker horse. Which is funny because- Never mind, I made this joke already.

 

The concept came to me when I remember one person said that there should be some kind of mechanical inventor in the show. I sorta agreed given these types of characters are capable of pulling off numerous wacky events with their technobabble nonsense and it could fit in well with the show.

 

Evidently, a lot of people also like the idea of a mechanic. Because a lot of OCs in the Equestrian Empire seem to have some ability in engineering. (Though how does one use a screwdriver with no fingers? Guess magic's the answer for everything.)

 

Tinker Spot is conveniently (or inconveniently?) orphaned. Not having the best childhood given how... weird she is, she still behaves like a child around others and can't exactly grow out of her juvenile ways given that others don't really bother with her. She's pretty much that one kid in your class that EVERYONE was annoyed by because she was either pretentious with her wording, eccentric or downright goofy.

 

She was inspired by Gypsy Pie from the Friendship is Witchcraft parody, though not as nearly as dark given FiM's light-hearted context.

 

 

 

 

 

Nimrod. Cause he's a Nimrod.

 

One of the things I kind of wondered about the show's universe was what happens when you get stuck with a Cutie Mark you DIDN'T want? Like a reverse Cutie Mark Crusader. Instead of constantly aiming to get one, a pony would be nervous to find out that their *destiny* was something that wasn't really that... spectacular.

 

Like Snails. Really, what kind of Cutie Mark is that?! SNAILS?!

 

Maybe their Cutie Mark HAS to be something they're interested and talented in, no exceptions. Well, in that case, how come there isn't a character who abruptly came to believe that their talent is stupid compared to say... uh, Twilight Sparkle's, for being a Demi-God, and their jealousy leads them into a life of being a complete jerkwad?

 

Well, that's what Nimrod is. A delusional, compulsive liar who tries to convince others that he's actually a hero and nothing else.

Petty Point/Short Cut/The Purloinin' Pony/Hasty Haggler/Robby Sneak/INSERT PUN

 

Quirks: He's really short. And also likes to walk on two legs to make less noise... even tho he can fly...

 

Not so sure if the thief archetype would work in MLP since the morals for dealing with kleptomaniacs is kind of limited. But I always enjoyed cartoon thieves because of the hammerspace laws and their inevitable chase scenes.
