For those of us who aren't quite familiar with the world of radio, could you perhaps offer a sample of what a DJ or radio host would be expected to do? I'm interested, but I've never really given radio a fair listen.

I am a DJ myself so yes.

You aren't really limited to just that though. Since there is more than one style of DJing, you can do plenty of other styles. I just have that one.

 

I'll just put a few guidelines:

- Broadcast to my stream at 128kbps Icecast MP3 (LAME MP3 encoder)

- 4:1 ratio of pony:non pony songs

- Have a stable internet connection, make sure all levels are okay.

Why are you applying? I like talking on the radio and I have a nice mic.

Sample of what you can do: Don't have a sample, but you heard my station ID submission so you know what my voice is like. I'd just be the guy introducing the songs, I don't have any "DJ" experience. Oh yeah and I'm a licensed amateur radio operator so if that makes a difference or not, dunno. It's just an experience level thing,

What day and time are you going to do so? I'm available any time most Saturdays (PST) and in the evenings pretty much every other day. I'm not available on Sundays.

Check out these sites: icecast.org and mixxx.org. Mixxx is a free full-featured Windows application for doing the broadcasting, and icecast is the server that you broadcast to.

is there any other DJ software I could use to Broadcast? I usually DJ with Serato Scratch Intro.

ok I attempted to download the Icecast and it doesn't work it says that there something wrong with the file. do you guys know how to fix this or is there some other broadcaster I can use

Does the Serato Scratch Intro program have Icecast and/or Shoutcast streaming? You should check in your options for that.

and also where can I download all these pony songs for free?

 and I check no it doesn't.....also that Icecast is being gay right now and wont open the file   should I try shoutcast now?

ok so Im starting to download pony songs and im gonna checkout shoutcast. this is a very big deal for me. and I plan to see this through!
