  1. Totally been done before, but it'll be nice to have a more centralized application for it. Or wait, will centralization make it subject to the whim of cut-throat Brony politics? Gasp, the horror.
  2. For those of you who like a little bacon with your pony... I'd like to suggest we meet on the air on simplex at 146.480, or any other available frequency. I won't be there until tomorrow (Saturday), but I'll have my HT with me so I'd love to chat with you guys via amateur radio! My callsign is KI6UAP.
  3. Sounds like a great idea! Unfortunately, those aren't games I play, hardly at all. If it were Planetside2, WarThunder, or Age of Empires, I would be easily persuaded.
  4. All professional DAWs allow you to import files. If you're talking about making music just with your computer, and not recording anything, I can suggest a couple options: Magix Music Maker - It's relatively inexpensive, and is a fantastic piece of software. Sometimes you can get it for sale in bundles with extra soundpacks. Apple Logic Pro - One of the top profressional DAWs, most studios have at least one computer with this on it. Downside is you have to have a Mac to run it, and it's very expensive. Fruity Loops (FL Studio) - A very popular choice, I've never used it. It's also very pricey. Avid Pro Tools - The number one Digital Audio Workstation in the industry, every studio uses it. Unfortunately, Pro Tools has passed its heyday and is on a decline, along with the company that makes it. Ableton Live - This one is definitely more complex than the other options, but a free version often comes with pro audio gear. This is the DAW that I use the most, and it's most commonly used as a controller for synthesizers and other MIDI instruments. Great if you have a computer with fast RAM and a MIDI keyboard. I hope this helped! Of course, as a musician, music student, and music teacher, I would encourage you to learn about music theory before you get started (if you haven't already learned about it), as that makes a great difference between awesome music and so-so music.
  5. The Scarlett 2i2 is an excellent pro-audio interface, although Ableton 8 is a little dated as 9 has been out for a while and Ableton is public beta-testing 9.2 now, if I recall. Good stuff though. There's nothing necessarily wrong or bad about using your PC headphone jack, as long as the headphones you were using have a relatively flat frequency response. You get in trouble when you master your music to sound good in your headphones and then it ends up sounding weird coming out of anything else.
  6. The first time I watched a Disney Fairies movie, it reminded me heavily of MLP, because of the way the fairies change the seasons and whatnot. Good stuff, although I'm thinking the super-sexy style of the female fairies isn't psychologically or socially healthy for the target audience (unless the target audience is teenage boys and young adult men... ).
  7. Looks like you've got piles of musicians willing to help, but I'd love to offer my services if you want them. I play the Irish whistle, which can fit into the orchestral mega-genre. Here's a sample of my skill: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4F_oOZEjkcA Yeah, I know it could have been a bit better recorded and arranged, I've been thinking of redoing it. I can offer advice on compositions for this instrument, but I'm afraid I'm not creative enough to actually compose myself.
  8. Oh yes, all the time. I hear other people say it sometimes, too.
  9. I wish there were more classical singers on here.
  10. I guess since I didn't get an email that it must not have been me. Oh well, congrats to whomever got the part!
  11. Pinkie Pie. I wish Fluttershy was higher on the chart, because she's Best Pony.
  12. As far as design goes, I would try to make your text easier to read, It disappears into the background too much.
  13. Are there going to be lyrics? Melody or not? The first step is deciding what kind of song it'll be, tonal (having a melody) or atonal (not having a melody, like dubstep for example). If you want to make more songs, I suggest taking a break and checking out Khan Academy or musictheory.net. Knowing even some very basic music theory will make your songs significantly better, I promise. Source: I'm a music (voice) major.
  14. Mr. Whitacre has been a guest at my school a couple times, and has even been commissioned several times I believe. He is a fantastic composer, and as a voice major and choir singer, I love to sing his songs.
  15. I've never been particularly good at memorizing scripture, unlike many of my fellow Christians, but there is one LDS scripture that I bring up now and then when my friends or family are feeling depressed. It's Doctrine and Covenants section 122. It's long so I won't quote it here, but it's all about hope for good times after bad times. You are referring to the Law of Moses, which Christians believe was superceded by the Law of Love when Jesus came to the earth.
  16. Mic fright... my mom has it. As far as sounding awkward or not, try to use an outline of what you want to say, instead of a fixed script. Reading from a script, unless you're a very skilled voice actor, usually sounds stilted and weird. Ad lib as you go, following your outline. That's my advice. If you want to hear an example, my show is tonight and I never use a script. See my sig for a link.
  17. The freedom to express one's self without reserve should be without qualification. However, when someone damages another person or violates another of their rights through the use of this freedom, they should have to make amends (talking about things like libel, invasion of privacy, etc. here). I know that freedom of speech isn't protected in the UK, so it would be interesting to get their opinion on this.
  18. To be honest, I would probably go hide in the Everfree Forest and try to survive until I screwed up the courage to approach another pony. Maybe I would die out there. That's just what would most likely happen if I were in that situation.
  19. No braces yet, but I just had a root canal. Waiting to get a crown on it, because the dentist is backlogged to February. (yes, I'm freaking out about that) Nothing stranger than the smell of tooth dust when you know it's your own tooth dust.
  20. I'm not sure, I think I left whatever group it was. I don't think it was any groups with the initials "CB". It goes to show, there are nasty people everywhere, even in a fandom such as ours. Beware!
  21. It was too long ago, I don't remember. To be honest, I don't even remember what group it happened in.
  22. I record with an MXL990 large-diaphragm condenser microphone and a Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 interface, with either Magix Music Studio or Ableton Live 9 Lite as my software. It's best to use a condenser microphone whenever you can, because they usually result in higher-quality audio. Audacity works fine, though, as software. If you're not doing anything too fancy, just recording your voice, Audacity is a solid tool.
  23. I was the recipient of some cyberbullying over on FiMFiction once, because of my opinion on homosexuality. The way I dealt with it is how I've dealt with all bullying - I ignored them (after a long flame war, which was amusing) and forgot about it. While everyone has different factors in their lives, and different situations, the smartest thing to do when you're cyberbullied is to remember that whatever they're saying, it means nothing. They aren't worth your time, so you shouldn't pay attention to them.
