Trick/illusion.

Now, I've just discovered a really cool trick that I saw while watching Vsauce.

It's sort of an illusion, but not an optical illusion, a touch illusion.

Here is a link to the video where he explains it (automatically jumps to the correct time in video).

Basically, you turn your tongue upside-down, then if you feel the left (or right) side of your tongue, it feels just like your tongue is the right way up. It's sort of hard to explain, just watch the video.

Does this work on you? Does it not? Why do you think this happens?

I'm completely baffled.

Did you know our brains can store 2.5 petabytes of data - according to that video anyways.

2.5 PB = 2,621,440 GB.

2,621,440 GB = 2,684,354,560 MB.

2,684,354,560 MB = 2,748,779,069,440 KB.

2,748,779,069,440 KB = 2.81475e15 bytes.

(Thanks to Google for converting all that. wink.png )

This is really interesting actually! As for the 2.5PB, I think this is a reasonable amount since your memories would be having quite a huge data itself. Also imagine calculating, predicting and other things plus being able to lead a conversation. If you compare to recent bots, they are still far away from simulating a human brain. Only the ability to reply to a conversation so it makes sense is already extremely difficult because bots are usually only able to respond to a very few certain commands, while humans can reply to almost anything they hear/see/feel etc. The senses and the ability to talk are already reasons why this amount of data is needed, it might even be more than stated, we can't tell for sure.
